* NeverLiveItDown: Some fans use Leela's failed date with the lizard-tongued Doug and her ensuing conversation with Amy and Fry as an excuse to claim she has ''ridiculously'' high standards for romance, turning down any man who doesn't fit her image of pure perfection. The joke of the scene is that Amy and Fry both think Leela is "too picky" for turning down men with actual issues (including "low IQ" and "an explosive violent temper"), with the lizard tongue being depicted as one of them. Even with the HypocriticalHumor angle of Leela judging Doug after commending him for ''not'' judging her and her eye, Leela [[AllegedlyDateless does agree to date]] several [[SingleWomanSeeksGoodMan seemingly-decent men]] throughout the series, and only dumps them when they demonstrate blatant selfish behavior. The closest thing she has to actually being unfairly judgmental is her RelationshipRevolvingDoor status with Fry, and even then, she's usually understandably put off by his immaturity and stupidity.

However, since he's voiced by Lauren Tom like his mother and his older sister Mandy, and as an alien baby lacks any obvious gendered traits, it's easy to mistake him as a female.

However, the difference was that during the Fox era, these episodes weren't nearly as frequent.

** ''Futurama'' post-revival (Seasons 6 and 7) are also viewed as some of the weaker seasons, where plots started to be more anvilicious (see above), make reference to recent events that had fallen by the wayside by the time the episode aired, more outlandish (as in, TheoryOfNarrativeCausality so much it's a borderline AssPull), and also doing a TwoLinesNoWaiting plot (for Matt Groening shows, this usually means we end up with two mediocre plots instead of one decent one). However, despite these flaws, these two seasons still have several beloved episodes, and are usually seen in hindsight as pretty good, however, they fail to live up to the original FOX run in terms of consistency.

* ValuesResonance: "I Dated a Robot" uses a company that kidnaps celebrities and sells robots in their likeness to the public as a metaphor for digital piracy, specifically music piracy via Napster. While the Napster parody is pretty dated to 2001, the sci-fi premise actually aged very well with the AI boom of the late 2010s and early 2020s. The episode can be retroactively viewed as a critique of people making deepfakes of actors and even studios profiting off actors' artificial likeness without said actors' consent.
