** Paula's death is heartbreaking too as she's shown to be a genuine sweetheart who comforts Nancy after she sees Jason, and she's killed in an utterly brutal manner, particularly because she begs for her life right before Jason kills her. Talk about TooGoodForThisSinfulEarth.

* DesignatedVillain: Sure, Sheriff Garris had unjust bias and flawed judgment against Tommy and is unprofessional as sheriff, but his reason after hearing about Tommy's mental health record was still justified, especially the idea if his daughter with Tommy who could be dangerous can warrant some like-minded AngerBornOfWorry. Likewise his doubt over Jason's return makes sense when you considered he acted like how anyone in real life would if someone told them that a long dead mass murderer was back from the dead and the one behind the all the deaths occurring.

** [[SubvertedTrope However]], even after multiple deaths occur that Tommy has a solid alibi to (Garris’ own daughter) he still refuses to listen and insists Tommy committed the murders instead. On top of that, Garris never considers the possibility that Tommy saw a copycat Jason. You know, like how he did in [[Film/FridayThe13thPartVANewBeginning the last movie.]]
*** [[DoubleSubversion However]], given Tommy tells him that he saw Jason ''come out of the grave'' right before his eyes, which is definitely hard to believe even for a copycat who practically couldn't pull that off that would justifiably and logically cause Garris to have little motivation to think of that second suspect theory. While he appears to brush off his own daughter's giving Tommy's solid alibi, there is a possibility that while earlier never considered the possibility of another copycat besides Tommy, hearing Megan's testimony on Tommy's behalf may have gave him a HeelRealization, while he masks his reaction not to embarrass himself and may caused him to finally think of a possibility of a second killer on the loose that he never thought of before as he head off to the camp to clarify if what his daughter said is true, while still keeping Tommy in custody just for in case if he finds out if his daughter could be wrong. If Garris was that close-minded, he did not have to leave for the camp, would have close his investigation and man hunt after apprehending and jailing his chief suspect and just waited in the police station for the rest of the night to keep an eye on Tommy until presenting him at the town's court for his murder trial the next day.

** With the way Jason looks at Burt's arm that he just ripped off, is he looking at it because it was holding a machete or was he surprised about his newfound strength after his resurrection? While he could do some pretty impressive feats of strength before, being able to casually rip someone's arm off is probably new to him.

* {{Narm}}: Cort constantly repeating “This is great” to ridiculous levels while taking the RV for a joyride. It’s very obvious that the actor wasn’t given any specific direction other than “just act like you’re enjoying yourself” and that phrase is all he could think of.

Tommy had no way of knowing Jason would come back, especially from something as freak as a lightning strike. Up until Part 4, Jason has never actually died. How Jason survived drowning wasn't made clear for a long time. In Part 2, getting slashed in the shoulder was survivable, and in Part 3, you can argue that his hockey mask kept the axe from going too deep into his brain.

* UnintentionallyUnsympathetic: Tommy's heart was in the right place for wanting to make sure Jason stayed dead, but it's hard to feel sympathetic for him after his actions basically led to Jason's resurrection when it would've been better for everyone had Tommy simply left Jason in that grave. Since then Jason's been revived multiple times all due to circumstances related to how he was risen from his grave, and had Jason still been there he most likely wouldn't have been revived by Tina in the next movie or Jim and Suzi in the one after. Basically, every death that's occurred starting from this film is thanks to Tommy's blunder. This in turn could make RabidCop Garris appear to be an UnintentionallySympathetic DracoInLeatherPants RightForTheWrongReasons when he persecutes Tommy throughout the movie for causing trouble in Forest Green despite the secondary bullet under StrawmanHasAPoint and DesignatedHero both pointing out his own flaws in regards to that.

For all his annoying abrasive traits, he was also quite formidable and can be valiant in his duty as a police officer that would have made him a useful ally for Tommy if not for his persecuting which was justified and sometimes made him come across as UnintentionallySympathetic (see StrawmanHasAPoint above). Some wished he shouldn't be killed by Jason and if he had survived, he would have undergo some CharacterDevelopment to TookALevelInKindness after realizing Tommy was telling the truth all along, while it would have been interesting to see them team-up to fight and stop Jason after putting aside their differences before Garris lets his daughter Megan and Tommy to be together that he originally opposed to when he initially thought Tommy's a threat rather than Jason.

* JerkassWoobie: Sheriff Garris can be viewed as such by some, he's indeed a RabidCop who can be loathed for his persecution of Tommy, but also it's revealed by his daughter Megan as she pokes as his own expense at the station that Garris is a widower, so sometimes you can understand his temperamental frustration of struggling to single parent his disobedient daughter, while simultaneously fulfilling his sworn duty as sheriff as he tries to put an end to the killings. Also, due to him being TheVietnamVet, there is the likelihood Garris is suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder rooted from his experience in enduring the [[WarIsHell horrors of war]] from his service, [[FreudianExcuse partly explaining his aggressive personality and paranoia towards Tommy being foremost trouble]]. For all his faults, Garris not only has a soft spot for children as shown in the climax, but he deeply does love and care for Megan that he gives his life for her when Jason advances towards the direction of her cries for help, being given a very painful death of being folded in half in return for his fatherly instincts.
