* HilariousInHindsight: Friday Night Funkin': Classified was originally a part of [[VideoGame/MariosMondayNightMassacre Mario's Monday Night Massacre]] before the two teams splintered off and went their separate ways. Classified officially released on February 26th, 2023... a date which happened to fall on a ''Monday''.

to:

* CryForTheDevil: Story Mode's final song, "Your Copy", features dramatic yet melancholic-sounding instrumentation, and is sung by a horrifying version of Mario. [=C-N64=]/Personalized Mario's strained chromatics (even as [[VocalEvolution it changes throughout the song]]), defensive body language and stressed looks on his face when he's doing his moves (and his reaching out with his left hand in his right move) makes him tragically look like he's either scared, distressed, or ''[[AndIMustScream in pain]]''.
* HarsherInHindsight: ''Friday Night Funkin': Classified'' is centered around creepy things from ''Super Mario 64'', the latter game of which is also well known for being one of Charles Martinet's first voice acting roles as Mario himself. The mod released in 2023, the year where it was confirmed that Charles Martinet officially retired from voicing the Mario and Wario Bros. for good.

* TearJerker: The first song of Story Mode, "Watery Grave", uses ''VideoGame/SuperMario64'''s soundfont to make quite the nostalgia-tinted SadBattleMusic for L is Real Luigi, whose soul is trapped in the courtyard fountain's statue, and whose body ''[[AndIMustScream is stuck drowning underneath it]].'' A section late into the song, preceded by Luigi [[SayMyName yelling Mario's name]], even teleports Boyfriend to the former's underwater "prison", where he's huddled up holding a flower a la Beta Luigi from ''VideoGame/LuigisMansion'', and looks utterly scared. The song ends quietly with Luigi singing by himself on the final turn. Poor guy...

** Some may find it hard to take Gilbert seriously just from him being based on a meme image, his down pose looking much less scary than his others, or even just the fact that his name is [[TomTheDarkLord Gilbert.]]

** M" is a huge floating GlitchEntity that fights you below the blackened skies of Bob-omb Battlefield and speaks in vague terms about [[TheReasonYouSuckSpeech the world being better off if you didn't exist.]] Additionally, if one isn't aware of the shaders used to achieve the effect, it's easy to have a moment of panic when you see [[InterfaceScrew your desktop melting]] as if infected by a system-breaking virus.

Thankfully, the interface screw is turned off at the song's conclusion or if the game crashes as a result of your failure.

** Despite being [[{{Bathos}} based on a memetic image]], Gilbert somehow manages to be one of, if not the scariest opponent in the mod on appearance alone. His song "Shrouded" takes place entirely in darkness, meaning the only thing you get to see is the ominous image of his half-visible face staring right at you. His poses, meanwhile, have him reaching out to the camera with [[UncannyValley disturbingly realistic human hands]], looking as if he's downright screaming at you. Add in the camera getting uncomfortably close to him many times and an tense song to match, and you have a recipe that can make even a meme into a frightening figure.

Adding to this, whenever the player is viewing his level icon in the Freeplay menu, ''the music stops'', Boyfriend and Girlfriend ''disappear'', and the surroundings take on a monochrome color scheme until the player views a different song.

* NightmareFuel: Given the source material it works with, this was kind of a given. Every song in the mod save for [[DenserAndWackier "Scuttlebug"]] has some form of horror to offer.
** L is Real Luigi is more sad than scary, but the fact remains that [[AndIMustScream his soul is trapped within the Power Star statue as his body drowns within the infinite depths of the fountain that surrounds it.]]
** The Wario Apparition absolutely towers over Boyfriend and spends the whole song chasing him through the halls of Peach's castle, something that [[OOCIsSeriousBusiness seems to scare even Boyfriend.]]
** [=C-N64=]/Personalized Mario takes the form of a disheveled Mario with [[EyelessFace empty eye sockets]] and a disgusting set of crooked teeth inside his enlarged jaw. Early into the song, he also stares [[TheFourthWallWillNotProtectYou right at the player]] to utter a forboding "Game over...".

* NightmareRetardant:
** If you listen closely during "Funhouse", you might be able to catch Boyfriend singing a part of [[WesternAnimation/TheFlintstones the Flintstones theme]] as a reference to the infamous "Grand Dad 7".
** While Personalized Mario has a scary appearance and a dramatic MarathonLevel of a song to sell his intimidation, one could get a quick laugh out of hearing one of his voice samples very clearly being one of the silly "Yah!" noises he makes while jumping in ''VideoGame/SuperMario64''.
