* GenreRelaunch: ''Friday Night Funkin'' revitalized the rhythm game genre and gave it some exposure after AAA companies (sans ''{{Creator/Konami}}'') lost interest in the genre.

Quote from the main page: "Real life examples require a 5-year wait before they can be added to the page. A show or other work which is currently in production cannot be an example, even if popular opinion has turned against it for whatever reason." Stop trying to sneak this in.

%%* CondemnedByHistory: this game was considered as one of the best games back in the time of it's release, to the point that FNF was considered to be the one that [[GenreRelaunch revitalizes/revives the rhythm game genre]], but it all started to go downhill when Sky gets cancelled and Amor being outed as a pedophile, the fandom gets more toxic and toxic and more mod makers started to get accused for controversy (mostly revolving sexual harassment), nowadays the community is quite small now, as everyone else could call this game as "that one rhythm game that's infamous for a fandom of pedophiles".

* DeathOfTheAuthor: Amidsts the creators' statements that Boyfriend and Girlfriend are very vapid, don't have a thought in their heads beyond each other, and the game is only about 'funkin,' the modding community often interprets the two as being intelligent, and go on adventures and meet people that have more to do than its initial premise.

** Despite being Boyfriend from an AlternateUniverse, Yourself from ''VideoGame/HitSingle'' has become one of these, whose popularity seems to stem from the high quality of his song from the mod, "Silly Billy", his CreepyAwesome design, and his backstory of losing his own girlfriend, among other things. Many fans joked that he's basically this Boyfriend's adopted older brother.

** Being inspired by 80's video game and synth pop music, "Roses" sounds similar to "[[Music/MichaelJackson Smooth Criminal]]", especially the bass and drums.

*** "Spookeez", their first song, was a tough cookie even on Normal. The song was infamous for its massive difficulty spike after "Dad Battle". The song ended up being made easier on Normal difficulty in version 0.2.5. On [[HarderThanHard Erect difficulty]], it's ''far'' worse, as you have to perform several very fast "stair" patterns in a row to clear the song.

** While all the songs in Week 7 are bangers, it's due to how fast Tankman spits his bars. However, the speed of the songs means that (according to ninjamuffin99) Week 7 is basically the [[ThatOneAttack beatdrop]] in M.I.L.F., but for three songs straight. While "Ugh" [[BreatherBoss starts the week a little more comfortably]] and "Stress" gives Boyfriend a few [[SuspiciousVideoGameGenerosity opportunities to recover]], [[NintendoHard "Guns"]], the second song of the week, gives the player no such mercy. Tankman frequently spits bars like crazy on ''almost every verse'', and this song is among the fastest songs in the game. What's more, the second half of "Guns" swarms you with what's possibly the longest note sections in the whole game, meaning you'll hardly have any room to catch your breath. Just when [[HopeSpot you think you're safe]], Tankman will occasionally throw one or two quick notes your way ''[[KaizoTrap during his part]]''. To top it all off, this is [[MarathonBoss the longest non-Monster song in the whole game]], clocking in at a brutal ''2 minutes and 20 seconds''. Due to the length and throwing every trick in the book Boyfriend's way at a blazing pace, "Guns" can make even ''M.I.L.F.'' look like [[FromBadToWorse the tutorial level]].

** Weekend 1 brings the heat, courtesy of [[{{Pyromaniac}} Darnell]]. After two relatively chill songs in "Darnell" and "Lit Up", he hits Pico with "2Hot", a fast-paced, challenging tune that has multiple double notes at the same time (something that isn't expected in any song but "Guns" above) as the song ramps up. After a beat drop, Darnell then barrages Pico with a rapid flurry of notes -- it's the same exact rhythm as [[ThatOneAttack the infamous "M.I.L.F." beat drop]], but this time, ''[[OhCrap the notes change]]''. You'll notice that Darnell's version of the rhythm [[BreadEggsBreadedEggs has doubles, too]], and you might thank your lucky stars that you don't have to repeat it... but Pico is forced to do that same exact pattern right at the end, when you're probably thinking the song has put you through enough. [[spoiler:Then there's the fourth song, "Blazin'". Rhythmically, it's nowhere near as challenging as "2Hot", but this song has no vocals at all, nor any OpponentInstruction. Your arrows are the only ones on screen, and they move ''extremely'' fast. Expect to get blueballed a couple of times before you can adapt to the frenetic pace.]]

** Weekend 1 ends with Darnell having a HeelFaceTurn and reaffirming his friendship with Pico. While it does have a funny moment with them passing out right afterwards as a result of their fight and a LastNoteNightmare implying Nene may be trying to take out Boyfriend herself, the final shot is a drawing of Pico and Darnell with "Friends Again!" written under it.
