** In the Misty Interior, you'll be introduced to spellcasting enemies, normal looking guys that wander around with a book. After their third movement, they will unleash a spell that hits you ''no matter what'', and for a surprising amount of damage. When you get on to a screen with them, they become priority targets so that you can avoid taking damage. So the game then puts them in rooms where you ''cannot get to them'' or ''getting to them means you'll be hit three or four times'', forcing you to rush through the room or leave entirely.
** One particular enemy, the one that looks like a short person with a sword and shield, has a particularly bizarre AI routine: if you jump when you're above them, they will ''rush'' towards your location and start stabbing. This isn't a problem when you're platforming above them, as they cannot hurt you, but when you're one block above them and try to jump over them, they will zoom under you and ensure that you get hit. Trying to jump away from them will only turn it into a CycleOfHurting.

* FridgeHorror: It's easy not to think about what the Evil One must have done to the dwarves to make them into monsters, but once it hits you it can seriously creep you out.
** In particular, we have the fate of King Grieve, king of the Dwarves, who as he was being transformed into a dragon-like creature, somehow managed to hide the Dragon Slayer sword ''within his own body'' to protect it from evil. And the only way to retrieve it is to kill him, and presumably cut him open.
