* QuirkyWork: The premise itself is passable, but some episodes feel so overdosed on broken logic to the point where the audience would wonder what the writers were on. "Fanboy Stinks!" could be the prime example, in which Fanboy develops a pair of ''talking mushrooms'' on his fingers after having gone so long without taking a bath.

* VindicatedByHistory: While initially derided by older viewers for its juvenile comedy and tendency of idiot plots, in the years since the show ended, people have been more willing to talk about the positive aspects of show; namely its [[SugarWiki/VisualEffectsOfAwesome lively and frenetic animation]] that would still be a rarity in television CGI projects even a decade later, its fun and colorful side characters, the clever pop-culture references, and its imaginative (if surreal and off-the-wall) story ideas. While it would still have some detractors, and some of the show's new fans still don't even like the titular duo themselves, Nickelodeon fans no longer view is as being anywhere near one of the channel's worst offerings.

* FandomRivalry: With ''WesternAnimation/AdventureTime'' fans, due to Nickelodeon greenlighting ''Fanboy'' over it and forcing AT to move to Creator/CartoonNetwork. Ironically, both were made by Frederator Studios and Creator/FredSeibert is an executive producer on both shows.

The scene has been the subject of numerous memes, which commonly involve Mr. Mufflin's emotionless scream being replaced by different scream or sound effect.[[/note]]

* TheWoobie: Sure Yo's obsession with Chum Chum and seeing him as a toy is meant to be seen as humorous and sweet, but if you think about it, why does she see him in that way. She could have a disorder or be delusional.

* {{Squick}}: The show ''lives and breathes on'' it, with bodily function-related humor finding its way into just about every episode. The worst offenders go to "Pick a Nose", where [[ItMakesSenseInContext Fanboy and Chum Chum trade noses and sniff various horrible odors to torment each other]], including a dirty Chris Chuggy, a toilet, and [[SmellyFeetGag Mr. Muflin's foot]], and "Fanboy Stinks!" where Fanboy tries to break a record of going the most days without bathing and [[ItMakesSenseInContext grows a pair of talking mushrooms on his fingers]]. Dare we say anymore?

** One meme in particular is "X but Awesome", where the FB&CC characters portray something, such as the Last Supper.

* IdiotPlot:
** "The Last Strawberry Fun Finger". Not one person considers just splitting the Strawberry Fun Finger in half until the end.
** In "Saving Private Chum Chum" Mr. Mufflin apparently forgets who Chum Chum is and mistakes him for a toy (due to him swallowing a ball and bouncing and squeaking like one). Then again, this is justified when you consider that fact that Mr. Mufflin never remembers what Fanboy's name is (always referring to him as "Purple Kid") and isn't 100% good at his job.

* CriticalDissonance: Some people and reviews have given the show some rather ''extreme'' (and perhaps undeserved) backlash (though people [[VindicatedByHistory have lightened up after the show was]] ScrewedByTheNetwork). That being said, the show won five Emmys (the most any Nicktoon has been awarded tied only with ''WesternAnimation/ElTigreTheAdventuresOfMannyRivera''), and its premiere episode gained almost six million viewers (though, this was most likely due to following the premiere of the ''WesternAnimation/SpongeBobSquarePants'' TV movie special "Truth or Square").

* VindicatedByHistory: In the years since the show ended, people have been more willing to talk about the positive aspects of show, such as its [[SugarWiki/VisualEffectsOfAwesome lively and frenetic CGI animation that makes it stand out among other Nicktoons]], its fun and colorful side characters, the clever pop-culture references, and its imaginative (if surreal and off-the-wall) story ideas. While it still has some obvious flaws, a number of Nickelodeon fans are more willing to admit that ''Fanboy and Chum Chum'' has a number of positive elements that most ignore and is, at the very least, nowhere near one of Nickelodeon's worst offerings.
