* AlasPoorScrappy: Whether you love or hate the titular duo, the former's treatment in the second half of "Precious Pig" where he is shunned and banished to the back of the classroom after he is accused of hurting Precious counts as this given he attempted and succeeded to teach him karate.
* AlternateCharacterInterpretation:
** Sigmund's nervous "Oh? Friends? Ahaha! Such happy for you!" was a brief unmasking of his haughty facade. Perhaps ''he'' was jealous of Kyle for having friends, which he--possibly--does not have (it would make sense, considering how arrogant he is) and decided to invite himself to the dinner at Kyle's house so he could humiliate Kyle (which he achieved, since Kyle admitted he was worse than him in the end) to make himself feel better? The [[AnAesop aesop]] of the episode seems to support that theory--after Sigmund left, Kyle was in a defeated state, until Fanboy and Chum Chum assured him that he still has his friends, to which the reply was "Yes... I suppose I ''am'' the winner after all".
** Is Yo really a friendly and jolly [[GenkiGirl Genki Girl]], or is it just a front to hide her personal issues.
* SugarWiki/AwesomeArt: The title cards are amazingly drawn; they have the feel of older 1990s[=/=]2000s Creator/{{Nicktoons}} in terms of designs and art direction while retaining a very bright and vibrant aesthetic to them.
* SugarWiki/AwesomeMusic: The theme song.
* BaseBreakingCharacter:
** The titular duo themselves. Many find them hilarious and endearing, while others find them obnoxious and stupid and would prefer for one of the side characters to be the focus of the show instead.
** Yo is either cute due to her GenkiGirl tendencies or an annoying {{Yandere}}, depending on whom you may ask.
* CriticalDissonance: While older Nickelodeon fans and online reviewers given the show some rather ''extreme'' (and perhaps undeserved) backlash during its run, the show itself managed to win five Daytime Emmys (the most of any Nicktoon, tied only with ''WesternAnimation/ElTigreTheAdventuresOfMannyRivera'').
* EnsembleDarkhorse:
** Kyle; a self-aware SnarkKnight magician with a backstory similar to that of Franchise/HarryPotter? Yes, please.
** Sigmund gathered a large fanbase long before he even made an appearance in the show.
** Michael Johnson, a Michael Jackson expy, is this as well. The creator even regretted not using him as much.
* FandomRivalry: With ''WesternAnimation/AdventureTime'' fans, due to Nickelodeon greenlighting ''Fanboy'' over it and forcing AT to move to Creator/CartoonNetwork. Ironically, both were made by Frederator Studios and Fred Seibert is an executive producer on both shows.
* GermansLoveDavidHasselhoff: The show is/was actually pretty popular in Latin-American countries, selling much more merchandise than in its own.
* HeartwarmingInHindsight: Fergie's guest appearance in "Super Chums" become this once you realize she and Josh Duhamel got married the same year this show premiered (2009).
* HilariousInHindsight:
** A superhero show made by Creator/FrederatorStudios and Creator/{{Nickelodeon}} that features a tall youth and a shorter one with dark hair who tend to annoy an outsider with unusual powers trying to fit in with normal kids and one of them is British; [[WesternAnimation/MyLifeAsATeenageRobot sound familiar?]]
*** Heck, Kyle even kinda looks like a Rule 63 version of Human!Jenny with the red hair and freckles.
** "Total Recall" involves the boys wanting to keep a recalled toy. Said toy is [[VideoGame/Splatoon2 an octopus-like secret agent named "Agent 8"]].
* JustHereForGodzilla: Arguably, one of the show's biggest draws is its supporting cast that reacts to and/or has to put up with the antics of the show's eponymous characters. It helps that many of them have distinct and/or likable personalities.
* MemeticMutation: In 2020, the show became a meme on Twitter and [=YouTube=] due to its bizarre nature, being VindicatedByHistory, and the success of creator Eric Robles' next show, ''WesternAnimation/GlitchTechs''.
** X but awesome[[note]]a type of snowclone where [=FBCC=] characters are put over popular images, like the Last Supper.[[/note]]
** "Fully operational, huh? Well, I'll be the judge of that..."[[note]]A scene from "The Janitor Strikes Back" in which Mr. Mufflin gets blown away by a hand dryer while screaming nonchalantly. The scene has been the subject of numerous memes, which commonly involve Mr. Mufflin's emotionless scream being replaced by different scream or sound effect.[[/note]]
** "I am gonna unleash my ultimate weapon! THE H-BOP! PREPARE FOR DEATH BY BOP!!"[[note]]One of Boog's bops, that when used, create a mushroom cloud. When fans found this, it was for two reasons; the amount of ham you can hear from Boog when he executes it and the fact this bop ''might have the same force as the nuke dropped on Hiroshima.''[[/note]]
** Chum Chum screaming in "Man-Arctica The Ride".[[note]]One of the many exploitable's of 2020, mostly because of the animation on Chum Chums lips and the scream itself getting replaced with anything.[[/note]]
* {{Moe}}:
** Yo, due to being a GenkiGirl who's incredibly sweet and cries at the drop of a hat. Her crush on Chum Chum can be seen as cute too when it's not bordering on {{Yandere}}. Season 2 removing her crush on Chum Chum increases her Moe status, as it has been replaced with her showing moments of kindness.
** Fanboy and Chum Chum themselves can qualify depending on your perspective. Annoyance and InnocentlyInsensitive traits aside, they are two [[CheerfulChild cheerful]] and [[ChildrenAreInnocent innocent]] young boys who are overly nice to everyone they meet.
** Kyle, while admittedly a DeadpanSnarker and JerkWithAHeartOfGold, overlaps with {{Adorkable}} due to his braces and gawky demeanor.
* NarmCharm: The art style. There's some UnintentionalUncannyValley moments and the characters are pretty funny-looking, but you gotta admit the squash-and-stretchy way they all move and the zany expressions they're able to pull off is rather admirable; this is most noticeable in Season 2.
* NightmareFuel: Kyle in "Speed Eraser", where he uses his magic to have Fanboy's hand stuck to the eraser and telling him if he picks up ''anything'' with that hand, it will be erased.
* QuirkyWork: The premise itself is passable, but some episodes feel so overdosed on broken logic to the point where the audience would wonder what the writers were on. "Fanboy Stinks!" could be the prime example, in which Fanboy develops a pair of ''talking mushrooms'' on his fingers after having gone a long time without taking a bath.
* {{Squick}}: The show ''lives and breathes on'' it, with bodily function-related humor finding its way into just about every episode. The worst offenders go to "Pick a Nose", where [[ItMakesSenseInContext Fanboy and Chum Chum trade noses and sniff various horrible odors to torment each other]], including a dirty Chris Chuggy, a toilet, and [[SmellyFeetGag Mr. Mufflin's foot]], and "Fanboy Stinks!" where Fanboy tries to break a record of going the most days without bathing and [[ItMakesSenseInContext grows a pair of talking mushrooms on his fingers]]. Dare we say anymore?
* SuspiciouslySimilarSong:
** In “Fanboy Stinks”, the music played as Fanboy [[WalkingInRhythm struts]] down the school hallway with Stinks sounds similar to [[Music/TheBeeGees Stayin' Alive]]. The scene itself is even a homage to the opening scene from ''Film/SaturdayNightFever'', which features that song. The same tune is played at the beginning of "Put That Cookie Down!".
** In “Chicken Pox”, the music played as the boys laugh at their fourth egg joke sounds strikingly similar to the “Come on down!” theme from ''Series/ThePriceIsRight''.
** The music played in the title card for "Fan vs. Wild" is to the tune of "The Dwarfs' Yodel Song" from ''WesternAnimation/SnowWhiteAndTheSevenDwarfs''.
** The song played during Boog's TrainingMontage in "The Big Bopper" is a parody of "Bird is the Word" by the Trashmen.
* TheyWastedAPerfectlyGoodPlot: Plenty of people are disappointed that the premise of the show doesn't really do much with the titular duo being both comic book geeks and Kyle being a wizard. Some would've loved seeing Fanboy and Chum Chum "playing pretend" and the episodes revolving around them trying their hands at superheroing and [[FailureHero failing]] [[DestructiveHero miserably]]. Kyle could've either been a friend who's pretending to be a wizard, or would've stayed a wizard who antagonizes them.
* VindicatedByHistory: While initially derided by older viewers for its juvenile comedy and tendency toward nonsensical plots, in the years since the show ended, people have been more willing to talk about the positive aspects of show; namely its [[SugarWiki/VisualEffectsOfAwesome lively and frenetic animation]] that would still be a rarity in television CGI projects even a decade later, its fun and colorful side characters, the clever pop-culture references, and its imaginative (if surreal and off-the-wall) story ideas. While it would still have some detractors, and some of the show's new fans still don't even like the titular duo themselves, Nickelodeon fans no longer view is as being anywhere near one of the channel's worst offerings.
* SugarWiki/VisualEffectsOfAwesome: While it's evident that the show had to work with an average TV budget, the expressive squash-and-stretch animation made the show stand out compared to other CGI works at the time. Especially as these exaggerated movements are very difficult to achieve in CGI due to the physics having a tendency to break the character models.
* TheWoobie: Sure Yo's obsession with Chum Chum and seeing him as a toy is meant to be seen as humorous and sweet, but if you think about it, why does she see him in that way? She could have a disorder or be delusional.
