* BestKnownForTheFanservice: This is the movie where Creator/JuliaRoberts wears a Wonderbra. Most of her interviews promoting the film seemed more interested in this than the achievements of the woman she was playing.
* GeniusBonus: The scene where Erin gets over 600 representatives for the class action suit. Class actions typically have only a few representatives, who stand in for the entire group of people affected. The standard tactic for dealing with them is to discredit the individual representatives as being unrepresentative of the group as a whole. Erin getting over ''six hundred'' of them makes it practically impossible for PG&E's lawyers to do this.

* EightDeadlyWords: Creator/RogerEbert said the film "lacks focus and energy, the {{character development}} is facile and thin."

* DesignatedVillain: Yes, Theresa and Erin get off on the wrong foot. But she at least tries to apologize and make amends, which Erin responds to with flat-out rudeness.

But she's the heroine of the story, all the plaintiffs in the case adore her, and despite these many negative characteristics, is often shown to have many good ones as well--loves her kids, knows all the PG&E plaintiffs by heart, etc. She does at least get called out on her nastiness--George dumps her after finally getting fed up with her ingratitude and bitchy attitude and Ed tells her off several times.

* VeryLooselyBasedOnATrueStory: While the court battle itself happened, there's not actually been any strong correlation shown between hexavalent chromium in water and cancer, and especially not the exceptionally wide array of cancers this film suggests. There's an interesting, but very different, story about underhanded industry lawyers hiring gumshoes to illegally invade the privacy of common citizens versus a pair of lawyers with an uncomfortably close relationship to the arbitration judge.
