* BreatherBoss: Compared to Sans, Chara is very easy. It isn't a ZeroEffortBoss, though; when you attack them, your own HP will drop as well which still leaves a possibility of dying.

* FridgeHorror: Sans' plan in Dusttale is to become so powerful and Determined by murdering everyone in the Underground that the Human will lose Determination and Sans will become the most Determined being in the Underground, thus gaining the power to Reset and undo everything the Human and Sans did. However, the earliest moment that Reset can occur bring a being back to is when the being that is the most Determined first enters the Underground. Therefore, Sans' plan even if it had worked would have resulted in Sans being stuck Resetting back to the moment he beat the Human for real. Sans wouldn't be able to Reset to undo anything he did, he would be stuck in a timeline where everybody left alive if anyone is would see him as a insane murderer, and even if somehow he rebuilt something resembling a life, Sans would never see Papyrus again. He would also likely be stuck in the infinite loop the Player themselves is in, only able to witness so much of life in the Underground before the "game" would end and he would have to Reset and undo everything to be able to do... anything, the same situation Flowey was in.

* SelfImposedChallenge: "Challenge Mode". Enabling it cuts your HP drastically, reduces the amount of HP items heal, and adds bones that attack your SOUL when selecting FIGHT, ACT, etc, during the second Sans fight, much like in vanilla Undertale. Evan himself stated that it was for players who wanted a bigger challenge.

* CompleteMonster: The Fallen Child, Chara, is a far cry from the enigmatic figure of the main game. No longer caring about their old goals, and now focused on sadism and power, Chara has completely taken over Frisk's body and soul and used them to go on 327 Genocide routes, involving a cycle of killing their former friends and loved ones, destroying the world and restarting the process all over again in a new timeline. This eventually drove the self-aware Sans mad, going on a killing spree of his own to stop Chara, something Chara sees as annoying competition. Chara forces Frisk to kill regardless of the latter's input or attempts to rebel. Should Chara kill Sans, Frisk is forced to restart their world again so Chara can keep their memories, implying this isn't the first time this has happened. Should Frisk prove too rebellious, Frisk will fight Chara to the death, successfully destroying Chara forever and undoing everything they did, but at the cost of Frisk's life in that timeline.
