* FaceOfTheBand: Herman Li. An unusual case given that he is neither the lead singer nor the main songwriter. Even so, he's the most well known member of the band due to his over-the-top guitar solos and his unique look.

** "The Edge of the World". Starts with melancholy tones and lyrics, then cranks it up with more of the slower kind of heroic vigor than how DragonForce usually plays their big climactic songs, like a wounded hero refusing to be driven into the ground. Then it dives into the most nightmarish part of the song, with harsh voices and lyrics, damning humanity and speaking of doom. Then the solo shifts the song's gears once more, turning it back to the heroic tone from earlier in the song, the sound more determined than ever just before the chorus comes back. Then, rather somberly, victory is declared, exhausted, wounded, but achieved. The band ditched its usual over-the-top speed for a slower burn and still managed to be invigorating in a way no other of their songs have been.

** "Through the Fire and Flames", the BonusBoss of ''VideoGame/GuitarHero III'', is widely considered to be the most difficult song in the series. [[IDontKnowMortalKombat No member of the band has beaten it on "Hard" difficulty.]]

** If you only know TTFAF, or found them through Guitar Hero, [[BerserkButton do]] ''[[BerserkButton not]]'' mention that to a long-time fan.

** The solo from [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5i7qZxICwgQ "Fury of the Storm"]] is part of [[http://takeshikaga.ytmnd.com/ this]] ancient YTMND meme about [[MundaneMadeAwesome The Iron Chef eating the]] ''[[MundaneMadeAwesome fuck]]'' [[MundaneMadeAwesome out of a bell pepper]].

** The band's first three albums received generally positive reviews from the power metal community, and the band was believed to have a bright future. Then, ''VideoGame/GuitarHeroIII'' was released and Dragonforce was given a ''huge'' spotlight that boosted both the band and the game's sales. The eventual overexposition burned out many people.

* NightmareFuel: In the song ''The Edge of The World'', after several minutes of standard Dragonforce music, with [[JumpScare absolutely no warning]] the singer starts using vocals so harsh their basically MelodicDeathMetal. Even the music becomes darker and more brutal than anything else Dragonforce has done.

* SongAssociation: Again, "Through the Fire and Flames" is heavily asssociated as a difficult song in ''Guitar Hero''. Later on, it's also becoming associated with other {{Rhythm Games}} that can have custom tracks.

* BaseBreakingCharacter: Marc replacing ZP, despite the fact that his voice isn't actually bad at all on its own merits.

* CreatorBacklash: Downplayed, but yes, they’ve heard TTFAF just as much as everyone else. They seem to be plenty proud of it, but they’d prefer to talk about something else.

** No human could possibly drink that fast... could they?
** By the end of it there'd be accusations of people digitally speeding up their drinking in the studio.

* ItsPopularNowItSucks: Seemingly averted at first when "Through the Fire and Flames" was announced for Guitar Hero III with fans celebrating its inclusion, then the game was released. Presumedly because it did boost their sales.

* RescuedFromTheScrappyHeap: Their post-Inhuman Rampage albums, "Ultra Beatdown", "The Power Within", "Maximum Overload" and "Reaching into Infinity" got them at least partially back in the good graces of the metal community, thanks to slight change in style; changing some of their lyrical themes, diversifying their songs, and even slowing down. They've also been proven to be a really good live band.

** Seems to be invoked with "[[VideoGame/CastlevaniaCurseOfDarkness Curse of Darkness]]", which opens with a riff much like the opening of "Bloody Tears", from ''VideoGame/{{Castlevania}}''; if taken within that context, the lyrics are [[BigBad Dracula]]'s own VillainSong.
*** Or, more likely, Konami's.
** The same can be said of their song "[[VideoGame/CastlevaniaSymphonyOfTheNight Symphony of the Night]]", which is clearly meant to be from the main character {{Alucard}}'s point of view.

*** Actually, "Through the Fire and Flames" is meant to be ''easier'' in ''Smash Hits''.
*** Plus the bass track for "Through the Fire and Flames" in ''Smash Hits'' is actually really easy to get through. The guitarist and the drummer might be having a hard time, but the bassist is pretty set as long as he can double-strum the controller.

* TearJerker: A ''lot'' of their songs' lyrics can invoke this if [[LyricalDissonance you strip away the upbeat guitar wailing]]. But ''Trail Of Broken Hearts'' is a rare case where the song's slower tempo lets it sink in.
