** Some fans even believed that the White Guardian and the Black Guardian had in fact been two personas of a single omniscient being all along, and later criticized Season 20's "Guardian Trilogy" for depicting them as clearly two separate entities. Anthony Read, who was script editor for most of the "Key to Time" season, said that he always imagined the White and Black Guardians as wholly separate beings. However, the final version of this story's script was written by producer Graham Williams and incoming script editor Creator/DouglasAdams, both of whom died before revealing their own thoughts on the matter.

* EpilepticTrees: The story's (and season's) ending has resulted in a ''lot'' of fan theories:
** If the sixth segment was restored to its original form (Princess Astra), then what happened to the ''other'' five segments? Did they return to their original forms, too? And if so, does that mean that Garron and Unstoffe now have their lump of Jethryk back to scam people with again, that the newly-liberated planet Zanak suddenly had the crushed and destroyed remnants of Calufrax materialize in its orbit, that Cessair's necklace is ready for someone to find it and use its shape-shifting powers for illicit purposes, and that Kroll is now back and ready to feast on Fenner and the remaining Swampies? (The fourth segment's reappearance at least shouldn't have caused many problems, other than Count Grendel probably wondering why a statue on his estate disappeared and then later reappeared)
** Did we ever see the actual White Guardian during this season? Or was it really the Black Guardian disguised as his good counterpart from the very beginning?

* InferredHolocaust: It's implied that the Atrians unknowingly managed to wipe out the Zeons very early on in the war, and that the subsequent conflict was engineered by the Shadow simply so that he wouldn't get bored waiting for the Doctor to arrive.
