* BaseBreakingCharacter:
** The bosses in general are very divise. Some fans LoveToHate them for how hammy and memorable they are while some fans hate them for being too difficult, even for video game standards.
** Speaking of the bosses, Goopy Le Grande. Some people find him to be one of the more interesting and less harder bosses while other find him to be one of the most forgettable characters in the game.
** Ribby and Croaks. Depending on who you ask, they're either interesting characters or one of the hardest and most annoying bosses in the game.
** Fans are a little divided on Dr. Kahl's Robot. Some enjoy him for his interesting boss concept and enjoy him for how challenging he is. Others, however, hate him for being one of the most notoriously hard bosses in the game.

* FandomRivalry: Cuphead and VideoGame/FiveNightsAtFreddys fans tend to be a mixed bag. This is due to Pizzeria Simulator coming out two months after Cupheads release and despite FNAF being a massively popular video game franchise, Cuphead proved to be more popular than Pizzeria Simulator. This caused some FNAF fans to grow jealous and accuse Cuphead of "stealing their thunder". That being said, there is still a third party who likes both games equally.

* ContestedSequel: While The Delicious Last Course was well-received overall, there are some people who consider it a decent game with some good bosses and moments but ultimately paling to the original. Many didn't like how relatively easy the new bosses were, had trouble getting used to Ms. Chalice's parry and overall think that Cuphead was better as a stand-alone game than a franchise. There are others who consider it an EvenBetterSequel due to the animation, Ms. Chalice getting more screentime and .

* DisappointingLastLevel: Many players (especially older players) feel this way about the Devil, finding shooting at him while he cries to be more anti-climactic than satisfying. With how hectic the bosses in the game can get, many fans sound themselves disappointed that the last and final level of the game turned out to be the least exciting.

* SoOkayItsAverage: Despite its ContestedSequel entry, this is the general response to The Delicious Last Course. The bosses can be too easy to the point of coming off as anticlimactic and how well Ms. Chalice's parry is depends on the player but it's still considered a decent game overall.

* UncertainAudience: It's unclear whether the game is supposed to be aimed at adults or kids. The cartoony animation style might turn some adults away from wanting to play the game (not to mention the goofy and cartoony looks and faces the characters make, making it feel like something you'd see in a Disney cartoon rather than a video game). Kids might enjoy the animation and characters but some kids might not want to play the game due its infamous NintendoHard difficulty. So, it's hard to tell if Cuphead is targeted exclusively at kids or if it's aimed at general audiences but considered its massive PeripheryDemographic of teenagers and adults, it might not matter.
