* MemeticMutation: "Hey, you can't be here! I'm giving a speech!"The most famous scene of "Under the Oak," where Bugbo interrupts the mayor's speech before abruptly turning him into a skeleton offscreen, killing him. This scene is often taken out of context for laughs, and it has also gotten some edits, such as playing the beginning of "Bad to the Bone" when the mayor's skeleton is shown.

thankfully, i learned this the easy way.

* FandomEnragingMisconception: While it does have unsettling elements from time to time, it ultimately is not a horror series and confusing it as such will have you gently corrected at best and called stupid at worst.

It's an episode, not the entire series.

** When the Red Brother appears in A Familiar Foe, he pops out of nowhere right when Gerbo says they'd need one to get out of their predicament, gives them what appears to be a glowing blue mushroom-shaped bag, leaves and is never mentioned again. Mitigated somewhat by the fact that the snake that was inside the bag is used to get Gerbo and Gradient Joe up the mountain.

Fan-art was made after it was released, while the trope is for fanart before it is released.

** Near the end of "Under the Oak," when Gradient Joe makes circuses legal again, the Hollow Clown says he wishes his father was here to see this. Just then, the ground rumbles, and a clown... dragon/dog(?) thing bursts out. The scene immediately cuts away after that, and this is the last we see of the two clowns.

** "Under the Oak" has a subtle example. Bugbo's ThisIsGonnaSuck reaction, saying "Oh," when Gradient Joe has to give a speech despite not being able to talk. It's funny the first time that Bugbo says it due to the Beat beforehand. But when Gerbo starts panicking, and all Bugbo can say is "Oh" again, it becomes much creepier. It really makes it clear that he has a total LackOfEmpathy.

* SugarWiki/AwesomeArt: The series uses Retraux Adobe Flash-style animation. While the artwork itself may look a bit crude, the way the characters are animated is very expressive and memorable. While the artwork itself may look a bit crude, intentionally crude, it nonetheless recreates the look of old Flash animations very accurately. Also, the way the characters are animated is very expressive and memorable. Special mention goes to the mayor in "Under the Oak," whose movements are brimming with a haughty and pompous personality.

* TheWoobie: The Hollow Clown in "Under the Oak." Despite his creepy appearance and voice, he's not an evil clown at all. He used to be part of a thriving circus. When the mayor made circuses illegal, most people didn't care that much, but the Hollow Clown was heartbroken because the circus meant everything to him. So he moved it underground, where he lives in the abandoned, grimy circus tent alone. He even breaks into tears after telling his story to the protagonists.
