Trope rename.

* AmbiguousDisorder: Wadsworth definitely has OCD, but that [[ThroughTheEyesOfMadness may or may not]] be all that's going wrong in his head.

* TheFourthWallWillNotProtectYou: This normally isn't a YMMV trope, but this IS Broodhollow we're talking about - a strip whose themes include uncertainty and paranoia. After a long hiatus following Book Three's false start, the author started again, reposting old pages with minor changes, but leaving out a page in which the Bowery Brigade is shown filling in each others' memories mid-sentence. This post was later added in without any kind of announcement, making it very easy for someone to miss it completely. There's no point in asking if this was deliberate - if it was, he'd never admit it, and if it wasn't, nobody would ever believe him if he said so. And if it WAS deliberate, what ELSE might he add or change, or have ALREADY added or changed? Welcome to Broodhollow. ''Hello, hello, hello.''

** Of the first WhamLine example above, Kris says, "This is a very important strip." If he's referring to a way in which it it's important that ISN'T obvious...

* FridgeBrilliance: The Shovel and Skull society play a game with, as of yet, unclear rules called Oubliette. An Oubliette is a secret dungeon with a trap door in the ceiling for entry.[[spoiler:[[OhCrap guess what Wadsworth finds at the bottom of the pool, hidden in the woods.]]]]

* TearJerker: A few across the comic, primarily [[spoiler: watching characters realize they're forgetting such incredibly distinct things like watching your father die a violent death, getting attacked by a skeletal OrganThief, or prescribing a thought exercise to your patient.]]

* ScheduleSlip: Kris has a child now, and because it takes up so much of his time, he stopped updating the main storyline in Broodhollow was in July 2015 temporarily. There have still been side comics and even a couple of unrelated videos, but unless you want to do an ArchiveBinge, it might be hard to remember where the story was going. Eventually, the comic began updating more regularly again and on July 22, 2019, he re-uploaded the majority of Book 3 with some tweaks.

Eventually, the comic began updating more regularly again and on July 22, 2019, he re-uploaded the majority of Book 3 with some tweaks. However, due to being unable to finish tweaking Book 3, it ended up being taken down again, leaving the story off at the end of Book 2.

* TheyWastedAPerfectlyGoodPlot: The first two tries at Book 3 had Wadsworth finally standing up to the horrors in town, and showing some modicum of resistance to them, as well as Iris potentially becoming the leader for the Lady's Auxiliary, and the introduction of an old friend of hers. The third attempt seems to start in some fiery hellscape, with the previous two iterations seemingly RetGone.

But then ''that'' version was also removed, due to it remaining unfinished for an extended period of time.

* NightmareFuel: Yes, just yes. When anything nightmare fuel-y is happening, Straub switches to a more detailed style, allowing us to see in great detail how horrifying something is. Some fun examples:
** Wadsworth has a dream where a patchwork skeleton is lying on a pile of his dictionary books.
** Later on the same skeleton makes a surprise appearance between the panels of the comic as a reminder on why he shouldn't sleep.
