* MemeticMutation: Strangely, in late November 2016, the rapping mouse character Biggie Cheese became a memetic SexGod with video remixes involving taking his scene in the film where he covers "Mr. Boombastic" by Shaggy and replacing the song with more explicit rap tunes becoming mildly popular. ** When Otis hops over the rock he tripped on before his talk with Ben he says "See? I learned!". This ties in with a theme of the film. Some lessons are harder to learn than others. And if you refuse to learn one lesson it's just going to be harder on you.
** Ben says that Otis will never be happy if he just spends his time goofing off. Otis is only completely happy after the death of his father when he accepts responsibility of being farm leader. Even more FridgeBrilliance sets in during the very final scene. Otis looks up at the sky to see the stars dance after he's assumed responsibility of leader and father [[LikeFatherLikeSon just like Ben did when he was young]].

There's an entire map to explore, quests, a minor crafting system, a buying and selling system, the music is surprisingly good. The minigames are another highlight, as they're all fun and fairly easy, with one based on the scene where Otis teases the mailman.

** Dag, even amongst people who don't like the film. He is typically considered the best character in the entire movie, and some go as far as to say that he is the ONLY reason to watch the movie.

* CompleteMonster: [[BigBad Dag]] is the sadistic leader of a [[ThoseWilyCoyotes pack of coyotes]]. Unlike the other coyotes who kill for food, he seems to [[ForTheEvulz enjoy killing his victims more than eating them]]. This is shown when he shows a group of chickens his chain which has severed chicken legs on it. When faced with Otis's father Ben, he [[YouKilledMyFather murders him]] and then shames Otis by telling him that his father would've survived had he been there for him. He then makes a compromise with Otis that stated that he and his pack of coyotes could get a couple of animals every night, and if Otis didn't comply, Dag and his coyotes would personally slaughter everything in the farm that Otis held dear, including possibly the farmer. This deal was just a trick to keep Otis busy while he and his pack kidnap the hens as well as the chick Maddy. He then tries to spitefully [[WouldHurtAChild eat the latter]] [[DisproportionateRetribution just because]] she [[InsultBackfire called him a "meaner."]] Murderous and needlessly cruel, [[VileVillainSaccharineShow Dag is seemingly out of place in an otherwise lighthearted film]].

* WhatDoYouMeanItsForKids: The movie actually went into some very dark themes, such as Otis losing his father and the farm being terrorized by Dag, who resembles more a sadistic SerialKiller rather than a predatory animal.

* TearJerker: [[spoiler:Ben's death. Otis runs out to help his dad and sees he's about to die. You can tell he's absolutely horrified, flabbergasted, and heartbroken at the same time. Ben tries to find something to say, his expression goes back and forth from stern to soft, until he just... slips away in his son's arms. Otis looks like he's about to break down. Which is probably what he does after hugging his father close to him.]]
** [[spoiler:Then there's the aftermath. The whole farm holds a funeral for Ben. Otis is off by himself mourning on his father's watching spot. As he looks at a stream he remembers fishing with his father. It's absolutely heartwarming and heartbreaking at the same time.]]
** Plus, [[spoiler:the fact that Ben died while protecting Etta the hen and the other farm chickens from Dag and his pack. He gave up his own life to save the lives of his fellow animals, and during the whole fight, he doesn't show any concern for himself, even as the coyotes gang up on him and begin to bite and scratch at him mercilessly. His only focus is on the safety of the hens. This only makes it even more painful when, at his funeral, Etta is the one who places flowers on Ben's grave, all while looking absolutely heartbroken. You can't help but think if she doesn't feel GUILTY for what happened.]]
** Also, [[spoiler:after Otis is defeated by Dag and his pack on a futile attempt to avenge his father, he becomes ashamed of himself by not being brave enough to stand up to them like his father did, and the next day, he plans to leave the farm, considering himself as a useless leader and a coward. The scene where he tells Daisy this and how frustrated he feels about how he can't protect the farm animals is quite painful to watch.]]
** Meta example: The death of Tino Insana, the voice of Pig, on May 31, 2017.

* NightmareFuel:
** The "boy tipping" scene, as hilarious as it is, is also pretty frightening.
** Any scene involving Dag and his pack. Not only are their appearances very unsettling (they look more like skeletal monsters rather than coyotes), they are quite deranged on their actions. [[BigBad Dag]] [[CompleteMonster himself]] is the worst, as he clearly enjoys tormenting his prey and seems to take sadistic delight when mocking his foes. And then there is his snarling, feral laugh...
** Their first scene (which shows them sneaking into the farm and slowly creeping towards the chicken coop) is particularly unnerving, and wouldn't feel out of place in a horror movie.

* CrowningMusicOfAwesome: ''I Won't Back Down'' by Tom Petty. Made even better by the fact that it's sung by Sam Elliot.
* CrowningMomentOfAwesome: Peck had just found his voice and made his first Rooster-call, warning Otis to turn around and stop Dag mid-attack from jumping off the bus by grabbing his throat. His next line cements that we know he's finished growing up now.
** "Remember me? I'm Ben's kid." Not to mention that after he slams Dag headfirst into a hard object, reminiscent of how Ben threatened Dag when he was finished fighting them, Otis does the same thing his dad did and ALMOST finishes him, but knew, just like Ben, [[IfYouKillHimYouWillBeJustLikeHim that doing so would make him just as monster as Dag was]].
