* WoobieDestroyerOfWorlds: At first, Andrias was a LoveToHate villain due to him [[spoiler: betraying Anne and her friends, almost crushes Polly, destroying Frobo, dropping Sprig to his near death, and with the cherry on top stabbing Marcy in the back both literally and metaphorically, as well as allowing the Core to possess her. After that, fans only saw him as a complete monster with no redeeming qualities and wanted nothing more than to see him get what's coming to him. "The Core and the King" shows us his past and what's drives him to his path of villainy. He was once a sweet natured prince who had 2 good friends whom he loved spending time with. At least until his frog friend Leif stole the music box after having a terrifying vision, causing his father Aldrich to deem him as failure and his only way to redeem himself is to wait for the music box to return. Andrias would spend 1,000 years of self loathing in his failure and desperation to make his father proud, and shutting himself off from everyone else, while letting his father and the Core to continue gaslighting him. It also becomes clear that he doesn't actually enjoy hurting those who get in his way, as he truly did form a genuine bond with Marcy when the young girl showed more kindness and cheer towards him than anyone has in 1,000 years. Which was enough for him to go out of his way to convince the Core to keep her alive rather than straight up kill her. While he continues to keep his feelings buried, Andrias shows deep regret for hurting the first real friend he's had in a millennium. As soon and Sprig reads Leif's final letter to him, Andrias has a massive MyGodWhatHaveIDone realization and openly breaks down crying, and when the Core sees this, they only continues to force him to keep fighting, making it hard to relish in his sadness. After the Core is defeated, Andrias willingly lowers his defense and let's Anne defeat him to end his reign of terror, losing his left arm, left leg, the tip of his tail, and a chunk of his tummy. As everyone celebrates Anne's victory, Andrias begs Anne to save Marcy, without a care about his own state and injuries. By this time, he finally realized that getting his father's approval isn't worth hurting Marcy; a girl who actually cares about him, and finally pulls a HeelFaceTurn against his father to help Marcy and her friends to keep the Moon possessed Core from crashing into Amphibia, and later begans atonement for his crimes as a gardener. Even so, the damage he's done has been set, and everyone on Earth and Amphibia will never forgive him for his actions, except for surprisingly Marcy Wu herself, as she gave a brief but genuine goodbye to her friend before leaving Amphibia for good and Andrias tells her to take care of herself.]]

*** ''Marcy's Journal'' [[spoiler: also shows us how strained the relationship between Marcy and her parents was, with her dad already having put a lot of pressure on her and accepting a job out of state without considering her feelings. Something that Marcy would resent him for even after being in Amphibia for the first few months. Other journal entries have also confirmed Marcy to be a social pariah on Earth as she struggled to make friends even when she was very young, likely due to her hyperactive and energetic personality. She was also looked down upon and even laughed at by her fellow peers. Which gives Marcy a low opinion on humans save for Anne and Sasha, and why she liked being in Amphibia so much]].

** While Polly can be highly aggressive and violent, she's shown to have been as deeply affected by the loss of her parents in "After the Rain" and "All In" as Sprig and Hop Pop. It's even sadder when you realize that while Sprig is the older of the two, he was still too young to remember much about them aside from them giving him iconic hat on his birthday. Meaning that Polly very likely doesn't remember a single thing about them.

* [[BrokenBase/{{Amphibia}} Base Breaking Characters and Broken Base]]

* BaseBreakingCharacter:
** The Plantars. For some, they're highly entertaining supporting characters who are integral to Anne's growth and provide the show with its most heartwarming moments. For others, they're a generic sitcom family comprised of [[FlatCharacter flat, tired archetypes]] and are, at best, boring and unentertaining, and at worst, annoying and unlikable. Some detractors even dislike them for taking away screentime from other characters they wish receive more attention and development such as Sasha, Marcy, Andrias, or even the rest of Wartwood.
*** Sprig. Either you think his [[CheerfulChild flippant attitude]] and adventurous nature is charming or it's eye-rolling and annoying. His [[BestFriend friendship with Anne]] is also either incredibly heartwarming and is the most important key for Anne's CharacterDevelopment, or it's rushed, generic, and ultimately less interesting than Anne's relationship with Sasha and Marcy. A huge source of his detractors is because he frequently suffers from AesopAmnesia, as the lessons he learns from his impulsive attitude don't stick in later episodes, and never faces any repercussions for his actions. A similar source of dislike is because of his lack of character development; as compared to the other main cast such as Anne, Sasha, Marcy, and even his sister and grandfather, who also received some noticeable character growth. Sprig's personality remains largely the same throughout the shows run.
*** Polly is either a BadassAdorable child who delivers hilarious fast-paced jokes and BlackComedy, or an [[SpoiledBrat obnoxious child]] who just won't shut up. While some fans grew to love Polly after she befriended Frobo, grew her legs, shows the ability to learn quick, and becomes a ChildProdigy in robotics during Season 3. Most of her detractors still haven't warmed up to her abrasive personality, and only began to see her as a mere plot device in Season 3.
*** Hop Pop, to the point where he may be the most polarizing of the three. Either he's an endearing CoolOldGuy and a ReasonableAuthorityFigure who delivers the most funny and iconic lines in the series, or he's an overly stern, incompetent jerk whose attachment to the GoodOldWays causes his family a lot of suffering. Not helping is that [[{{Hypocrite}} he criticizes his family for things he sometimes does]]. While he does let go of his overprotectiveness over his grandchildren, as well as outgrowing his preference to the GoodOldWays and accepts change. His hypocritical tendencies still remain.
** Ivy is the most complex of all of the citizens of Wartwood. To some, she is a BadassAdorable young frog girl who has a cute PuppyLove romance with Sprig. But to others, she's an annoying FlatCharacter whose [[SatelliteLoveInterest only reason for existing is to be Sprig's girlfriend]]. While a few of her detractors have warmed up to her after "Ivy on the Run" due to her getting a break from being a SatelliteLoveInterest, there are others who feel that her presence caused some continuity errors as the second episode establishes that Sprig had no friends before he met Anne. So Ivy's introduction as Sprig's childhood friend ends up ruining that part of his character arc. With most fans finding Maddie a more interesting character than Ivy, and some prefer shipping Spraddie (Sprig x Maddie) instead of Sprivy (Sprig x Ivy).
** Ivy's grandmother Sylvia also receives somewhat similar like or dislike among fans as her granddaughter. To some, she's a CoolOldLady with a rather heartwarming DecemberDecemberRomance with Hop Hop. To others, she's just a SatelliteLoveInterest who is rather boring and forgettable. Doesn't help that Sylvia has been DemotedToExtra after Season 1, with only one speaking appearance in Season 2 and only gets a mention and a non-speaking cameo appearance in Season 3. Making some fan prefer shipping Hop Pop with Grime (aka Grimepop) than with Sylvia.
** While some fans love Frobo because of his various designs, his BabySeeBabyDo like programming, his sweet friendship with Polly, and find him a formidable ally to the main cast. Many fans were dissapointed that he went from a AmbiguouslyEvil robot that followed the Plantars until they got back to Wartwood, to being a SatelliteCharacter who doesn't do anything useful until the plot demands it. Making his temporary death in True Colors to Fixing Frobo much less impactful to the audience than Andrias dropping Sprig to his death, and later Marcy suddenly getting stabbed. Which doesn't change even after Polly revives and upgrades him with a new body.
** While they only made a few appearances, and only played a major role in "Maddie and Marcy". Some fans have rather warmed up to Maddie's sisters Rosemary, Lavender, and Ginger. Them being adorable, playful, and sometimes mischievous but ultimately well-meaning triplets brings to mind [[ComicBook/DisneyDucksComicUniverse Huey, Dewey, and Louie]] for quite a number of fans. But other fans find them annoying children who just won't leave Maddie alone. [[InUniverse A sentiment shared by Maddie herself]]. Ginger calling Marcy a stupid old lady doesn't help.
** The Core, while an important aspect of the story being the BigBad, isn't as fleshed out as other antagonists such as Andrias, Season 1 Sasha, or Grimes, and this aspect splits the fandom. Some think that a more simplistic and CardCarryingVillain is needed amongst the greys that those other three villains have, while others think The Core should at least have been made less one-dimensional.
*** [[spoiler:Darcy]] is particularly polarizing among The Core's forms, some fans regard them as a cool final villain and an excellent KnightOfCerebus that makes the best out of their screentime, other fans feel [[spoiler: Darcy possessing the antics of Marcy]] makes them a case of NightmareRetardant and feel other forms of [[spoiler:The Core]] were much more intimidating and would have preferred any of those served as villains of Season 3. The major point of contention is the fact that [[spoiler:Darcy's]] existence caused fan-favorite [[spoiler:Marcy]] to be absent of most of Season 3, depending on the fan this is a justified case of ShooOutTheClowns or it stole the series from one of their more interesting characters.

* BrokenBase:
** Season 1, or at least the more lighthearted and "filler" episodes of it. Some think there are too many boring, uninteresting and kiddy episodes and bemoan how there is usually a lesson to be taught in each one. Others argue that the season does a great job in developing not just Anne and the Plantars, but the entirety of Wartwood too, making all of them standing up to Toad Tower all the more powerful.
** Season 3A, while generally well-regarded, has its share of supporters and detractors even after the show ended. Supporters praise it for continuing its trends of remaining humorous, its comedic plots involving [[spoiler:the Plantars getting involved in hijinks on Earth adventures, introducing new Earth characters,]] continuing character development for Anne, Sasha, and the Plantars, exploring Anne's home life with her parents, and [[spoiler:setting off Sasha's redemption arc.]] Detractors on the other hand criticize it for its failure to address some of the consequences of the emotionally-intense "True Colors", such as [[spoiler:Anne's feelings about being betrayed by Sasha, Marcy, and Andrias, not emotionally processing watching Marcy get stabbed,]] not having Anne confront Sasha and Marcy's parents, and lacking any more focus episodes for Sasha or Marcy, with both of them each getting one focus episode where [[spoiler:the former's redemption arc]] comes off to a potentially rushed start while the latter [[spoiler:gets possessed and doesn't fully confront the consequences of her actions until the penultimate episode,]] or featuring characters from the show's titular location much. While the fandom is split on the writing of Season 3A, it is generally agreed that it is a step down from Season 2, particularly "True Colors".
** The TwoShorts format started to become more divisive in the fanbase as Season 2 and 3 started going CerebusSyndrome. While it works well for more comedic episodes, fans opinions on how well handled they are in the dramatic episodes seems split. Some think it makes more dramatic and plot-relevant episodes like "Hopping Mall", "After the Rain", "The Third Temple" or "Commander Anne" come up with a rushed pacing and way too little time to develop the situations in a satisfactory way which makes some fans wish it would have gained a half-hour format like ''WesternAnimation/GravityFalls'' or ''WesternAnimation/TheOwlHouse''. Others fans however appreciate the tighter pacing and even see it as one of the serie's strengths as it averts making the episodes having filler or lose focus in unnecesary B-plots and also makes the series CerebusRollercoaster nature much easier by having a larger range of episodes without focusing too much in one element or the other.
** While some fans love Sprig and Ivy's relationship arc due to it being one of the first canonical ships in the series and find their young PuppyLove cute. Others find their relationship rushed, annoying, boring, and unnecessary to the series. Many also criticize it because in their first episode, "Dating Season", they were trying to push the message that you shouldn't force romance onto people who see each other as friends, [[BrokenAesop so having Sprig fall in love with Ivy at the end ruins the message]]. This happens again in "Anne of the Year" where one of the lessons Anne learns is not to force someone to confess their feelings to a person they like. They should do that when they're ready. Then Ivy comes in to ask Sprig out immediately afterwards. The episode "Sprivy" only makes this worse as Sprig and Ivy's relationship goes from an adorable PuppyLove romance to an annoying SickeninglySweethearts couple because of their out of character clinginess in this episode. They become so engrossed in their love that they put their teammates and by extent the Multiverse at risk because they didn't want to spend even 5 minutes apart from each other. While some of their fans will defend this by saying that were just children who haven't seen or heard from one other in a long time. Detractors agree that the narrative didn't take the ongoing situation anywhere near as seriously as it should have. Sprig and Ivy were let off way too easy for their couples shenanigans resulting in nearly getting everyone killed, and some agreeing that Sprig and Ivy were better off as friends. Some fans even admitted that the episode ruined or permanently killed the Sprivy ship for them.
** Hop Pop and Sylvia's relationship is even less cared for by many fans of the series, as it's rarely ever seen or even brought up in the show after Season 1. With Sylvia getting DemotedToExtra in Season 2 and only gets a non-speaking cameo the series finale. Also, since that Sprig is Hop Pop's grandson and Ivy is Sylvia's granddaughter, most fans of the Sprivy ship have expressed concern that if Hop-Pop and Sylivia were to ever get married, then Sprig and Ivy would be cousins or siblings even though it's not by blood and they cannot date each other.
** The GrandFinale's implication that [[spoiler:the Anne we've spent the entire series with was actually KilledOffForReal and the Anne sent back to the world of the living is a clone]], either you think is great that the creators managed to pass for the radar [[spoiler: the main heroine dying]] and prefer that [[spoiler:her HeroicSacrifice]] had consequences feeling it makes the conflict feel more real, or you hate the idea, seeing it as meanspirited towards the character and feel it makes her whole CharacterDevelopment a huge ShootTheShaggyDogStory.

** Hop Pop and Sylvia's relationship is even less cared for by many fans of the series, as it's rarely ever seen or even brought up in the show after Season 1; with Sylvia getting DemotedToExtra in Season 2 and only gets a non-speaking cameo the series finale.

*** Barrel is well liked because goofy NiceGuy personality; despite his tough guy appearance. It helps that he's voiced by none other than Jason Ritter, the voice actor of Dipper Pines from ''WesternAnimation/GravityFalls''. He ultimately becomes TheWoobie of the group after gets banished by his friend Andrias after his decent into darkness. So who doesn't want to give the poor guy a hug?!

** Both of Andrias's former friends Leif and Barrel quickly gained popularity among fans shortly after "The Core and the King".

*** Leif is loved by fans because she's a NiceGirl who loves all living things, and loves discovering new ways to interact with animals (traits that she shares with fan favorite Marcy Wu. Which is why Andrias grew to like the latter). Her selfless act to steal the Calamity Box to save Amphibia from destruction ultimately kick starts the events of the series. Even though it meant ending her friendship with Andrias and Barrel and getting exiled from Newtopia forever. After she StartedANewLife, it's revealed that she's also the founding member of the Plantar family home, and is Sprig, Polly, and Hop Pop's distant ancestor who help grant Leif's final wish to help Andrias redeem himself.

King". Part of the is because of their friendship dynamic being similar to the present Calamity Trio, and Leif and Barrel sharing many similarities with Marcy, which is very likely why the present Andrias wanted to befriend her.

** Wally is also pretty well liked by fans thanks to his silly and eccentric personality, and his presence ultimately leading to Anne meeting Sprig and ends up living with the Plantars. Fans grew to love him even more in his DayInTheLimelight episode "Wally and Anne" and "Swamp and Insensitivity" with both episodes showing him form a sweet IntergenerationalFriendship with Anne.

*** Polly is either a BadassAdorable child who delivers hilarious fast-paced jokes and BlackComedy, or an [[SpoiledBrat obnoxious child]] who just won't shut up. While some fans grew to love Polly after she befriended Frobo, grew her legs, and becomes a ChildProdigy in robotics during Season 3. Most of her detractors still haven't warmed up to her abrasive personality, and only began to see her as a mere plot device in Season 3.

Spelling/grammar fix(es) I want to make something clear. I don't hate Sprig or the other Plantars. But I saw some fans remark on most of the stuff I put in the earlier edits.

*** Sprig. Either you think his [[CheerfulChild flippant attitude]] and adventurous nature is charming or it's eye-rolling and annoying. His [[BestFriend friendship with Anne]] is also either incredibly heartwarming and is the most important key for Anne's CharacterDevelopment, or it's rushed, generic, and ultimately less interesting than Anne's relationship with Sasha or Marcy.
