** The questline for the Archmage class is considered long and grueling, and for good reason. The quests start at Level 60, and most of the required reagents for them have ludicrously-low drop rates, even going so far as to be 1% for some (you could buy some of them as an alternative, but be warned that those could cost several reagants and hundreds of gold). The required level to finish all of the mandatory quests for the class is 80, and some of them even require rannk 10 of certain faction reputations to take (Chaos, Spellcrafting, Embersea, Etherstorm and Loremaster, to be exact). The final quest involves killing Prismatas 250 times, which is easier said than done for a low number of players fighting them as they have huge amounts of HP, deal good damage, and can charge up for even more powerful attacks that would be enough to result in total kills of parties of very few players. The good news is that once you finally obtain the class, it proves to be an incredibly great farming class, making it another one worth all that difficult farming similar to the likes of Void Highlord, Legion Revenant, Dragon of Time, and Chaos Avenger. If you wish after obtaining the class, you can take an optional bonus quest to unlock color-custom versions of the Archmage set, which, according to Warlic, will also be incredibly long and difficult and rightfully so, especially when it requires you to be Level 100 to take it and, for two of the requirements for its completion, you have to collect two items from some quests that require the completion of some other difficult ones and kill the already incredibly tough Prismatas 2500 times.

** Dage's Undead Horsemen can be incredibly hard to beat. While they're only level 35, all of them have triple-digit health pools that are higher than most bosses of the same level and pack highly damaging attacks, which they will constantly use against you. Particular mention goes to Death and Famine, who can deal 2000+ damage ''per hit'' - enough to OneHitKill most players, even without considering critical hits. Facing them with a class dedicated to reducing damage (such as the [=StoneCrusher=]) makes them more bearable, though even they can have a hard time of it. As of September 2020, most bosses have been taking pages from the Horsemen, such as the Shadowflame Dragon, Elius, [[spoiler:Avatar Tyndarius]], the Queen of Monsters, [[spoiler:the Eternal Dragon as seen in the Deadlines map]], [[spoiler:the Mask of Tranquility]], [[spoiler:and both Malgor in your second fight against him and his OneWingedAngel form, the Mainyu]], for example (and even before then there were also some non-ultra bosses that have been dealing highly damaging attacks such as the Scarsgarde Captain in the first chapter of the Sepulchure's Rise saga).

** Aeacus qualifies too. While he doesn't have the tons of hp that Binky and Raxgore have, nor can he regenerate or lock players' skills, his normal attacks are insanely powerful, but the 4 temporary buffs that he keeps using during the battle are what make him a complete nightmare to defeat . He can raise his dodge chance to annoying levels, reduce all damage done to him by 3/4, double his critical hit's damage, or, for the complete nightmare, [[ThatOneAttack DOUBLE HIS ATTACK POWER (Which also doubles his criticals)]]. Oh, he can use any one of them at will, and can even use more than one per time. And if you thought he was difficult... try to beat his Ultra version. For both of them, killing entire parties in seconds is not unheard of.

* RescuedFromTheScrappyHeap: Malgor used to be detested for [[spoiler:appearing out of nowhere and abrubtly killing the Queen of Monsters and rendering her TheUnfought until the "Plane of Monsters" and "Queen of Chaos" sagas (as she developed a compelling story and served as the ultimate villain despite all the hangups about her)]]. Having a badass OneWingedAngel design for the final boss fight of his saga boosted his popularity even further]].

** Malgor, the overall BigBad of the Shadows of War storyline, used to be this. At first, he was heavily disliked for [[spoiler:abruptly showing out of nowhere and killing the Queen of Monsters, making her TheUnfought AntiClimaxBoss.]] This made him a ReplacementScrappy to the Queen of Monsters, as despite all the hangups about her she still delivered a compelling storyline and maintained her status as the ultimate villain. Malgor by contrast was initially seen as a very generic stock Creator/ArtixEntertainment villain of a heavily armored warlord and conqueror seen in many games. As the story progressed, though, he underwent CharacterDevelopment, making him a WellIntentionedExtremist vulnerable to hope and Elemental Champion powers, and revealed that his plan was to take control of Lore's leylines in order to save it and bring it peace through complete and utter silence with the heroes feeling sorry for him in the end but still fighting to find another way to bring peace instead of killing everybody through the corruption of the Mana Core, revealing a much better reason for him to have killed the Queen and a well-developed tragic backstory revealed in the finale, and he got an awesome OneWingedAngel design for the final boss fight of the saga, making him much more well-liked as a villain and now being seen as a tragic AntiVillain with a deep connection to the hero instead of the generic stock armored warlord villain that AE players initially thought him to be.

As the story progressed, though, he underwent CharacterDevelopment, making him a WellIntentionedExtremist vulnerable to hope and Elemental Champion powers, and revealed that his plan was to take control of Lore's leylines in order to save it and bring it peace through complete and utter silence with the heroes feeling sorry for him in the end but still fighting to find another way to bring peace instead of killing everybody through the corruption of the Mana Core, and he got an awesome OneWingedAngel design, making him much more well-liked as a villain and being seen as a tragic AntiVillain instead of the generic stock armored warlord villain that AE players initially thought him to be.

** The other members of the Scale, as well as [[spoiler:Darkon's love interest Suki]], are also very popular, and have a lot of fanart dedicated to them as well. King Drago counts as well due to being a very convincing HateSink.
** Waddles the Duck's popularity exploded with the fandom the moment he arrived with the Birds with Harms Harvest Day 2022 update, as he was subjected to lots of pictures with him as the star.
