** There is also the matter of the last two chaos lord [[spoiler:with King Alteon as the 12th lord of chaos and the Hero as the 13th Lord and considering Drakath says that he saves both King Alteon and the Hero for last. Which can bring a hint after the former become the 12th lord.]]

* ShockingSwerve: Admit it, [[spoiler: was anyone expecting Artix to be the Champion of Darkness?]]
** Or the fact that [[spoiler: Drakath is making the ''hero'' his 13th Lord of Chaos?]]

Added DiffLines:

* TheUntwist: Artix [[spoiler: as the Champion of Darkness is way to obvious with the foreshadowing with him not casting a light spell.]]

* ThatOneSidequest: The quest chains to unlock the Blinding Light of Destiny and the separate, Legends-only "Sepulchure's Doomknight Armour" are absolutely brutal. Both require copious grinding to obtain ''over three million spirit orbs each'' (though this number assumes that the player doesn't find any Auras needed to make the equipment, which would require several thousand orbs each to make) which drop in increments of 5, 10, 15, and 20 from quests that require 25 or 40 of other drops from undead, [[LuckBasedMission metal which is a random drop from a daily quest]], and high amounts of Auras that can only be obtained through a random drop which requires a separate weapon that requires the above materials to make. [[UpToEleven It takes so much grinding that Artix himself estimated that either item would take players roughly SIX MONTHS of farming to obtain, and neither chain overlaps, so you're looking at a YEAR to obtain both pieces.]] And to top it off, the armour [[AndYourRewardIsClothes is strictly]] [[CosmeticAward cosmetic]] and the BLoD's only practical advantage over any other is a 25% damage buff against Undead, [[BraggingRightsReward who you've killed tens of thousands of on the way to making it and were probably enough to get you to the level cap]].

* VillainSue: Sepulchure is immune to almost any attack except Blinding Light weapons, his own Necrotic Blade of Doom, and Drakath's ripping out his heart at the beginning of the game. He's a skilled manipulator, and he even knows how to Shadow Step and predict other people's moves.

* ThatOneLevel: The Delta V Laboratory area based on BioBeasts has some of the toughest areas in the game to get through. You have to defeat every monster in each room in order to continue to the next, and some of the monsters' HP tends to be high. They also do good amounts damage, and some of the ones in later zones of the lab tend to become aggressive when you approach them. The most difficult zone, of course, is the final one, the hangar, where all of the monsters there are high-HP, high-damaging, and aggressive all at the same time. [[BreatherBoss At least the lab's boss, the Hovercraft isn't as difficult as the zone it's placed in]].

** [[spoiler:General Nevanna loses a lot of sympathy when she murders her own former teammate, Aven Greywhorl, to prevent both him and the hero from recovering the Celestial Horn of Balance. If that's not enough, she even disposes of Aven's corpse and summons a horrific monster in his place. And to make matters worse, she later has the Earth Titan Gaiazor unleash massive destruction upon Brightoak, especially with the World Tree crippled beyond repair.
