* HarsherInHindsight: The story was written in 2007, when it could have comfortably been assumed the fascism was a dead ideology and thus the author needn't worry about potentially supporting it by giving a scenario that results in an at least semi-positive portrayal of Oswald Mosely, UsefulNotes/BenitoMussolini, and UsefulNotes/FranciscoFranco. In the late 2010's, the far right has seen a major resurgence in Britain, with membership in the fascist groups that act as direct successors to Mosely's growing sharply. This puts the story in a much harsher light.
* MagnificentBastard: Mussolini, of all people, gets to be one.
** Franco, who managed to become the president of the Spanish Republic despite being one of the leaders of an earlier coup against said republic.
