!! [[Series/OnePiece2023 Live-Action TV Series]]

* There's a lot of non-playable characters in the first two ''VideoGame/OnePiecePirateWarriors'' games, such as Hatchan, Vista and Ivankov. Some, like Sentomaru are basically clones on existing characters with limited movesets. Others, like Mr. 3, have extensive and unique movesets which suggests that they might have been intended to be playable at some point. However, Ivankov out of the mentioned ones eventually was made playable in the third game, along with others like Magellan and Lucci.

* In the second ''Romance Dawn'', which was submitted as the pilot, Luffy's grandfather ([[spoiler:who's a Marine '''vice-admiral''' in the actual manga]]) played an equivalent role to Shanks, which Creator/EiichiroOda did so that Shanks would have more of an impact when he was introduced in the actual manga. There's a character named Ann with a similar design to Nami and the position of a swordswoman [[FauxActionGirl of limited skill]], but she doesn't join Luffy's crew in this version. Plus the BigBad of this pilot is a pirate captain named Spiel the Hexagon whom to this date is the ONLY One Piece villain who uses magic, such as having the ability to ride on a broomstick, set a subordinate ablaze, summon a hammer, and control water to sink his own ship.

* Marguerite initially had a Zoan Devil Fruit, specifically the Cat-Cat Fruit, Model Black Cat.

* Nola, the giant snake from the Skypiea arc, was originally intended to be an octopus, and [[BearsAreBadNews Kuma's]] distinguishing feature was going to be a steering wheel lodged in his head. However, the steering wheel concept would later be used for Shiki in ''Strong World''.

* Randy Tallman was originally going to play Gun Fall in Funimation's dub. Due to Tallman's November 2007 death, however, he was replaced by Creator/JohnSwasey.

* When Toei was shopping around for companies to broadcast ''One Piece'' in North America, certain recording studios were asked to produce test episodes for Toei to view. One of the studios in the running to dub ''One Piece'' back in 2004 was Funimation, which was already working with Toei on ''Anime/DragonBallZ''; they were originally considering Creator/EricVale as Luffy and Creator/ChristopherSabat as Helmeppo. However, Funimation was not the only company Toei was considering – they also apparently got a test dub from Blue Water Studios in Calgary, and there were plans for a test dub from [[Creator/TheOceanGroup Westwood Studios]] in Vancouver. The Vancouver dub featured Andrew Francis as Luffy, Samuel Vincent as Zoro and Jillian Michaels as Nami. Unfortunately, all of those plans were nixed when Toei sold the license to 4Kids. Funimation would eventually buy the ''One Piece'' license in 2007.

* Before the license finally expired, 4Kids did have a few voices selected if they had continued onward to the Skypeia saga for Bellamy, Blackbeard, Eneru and his Priests (dubbed Vassels here) and Wyper and the Shandarians which can be heard in the English version of the''Pirates Carnival" game. * The show was originally planned to be ten episodes, but was eventually reduced to eight episodes.

* For the Latin American Spanish dub of ''Anime/OnePieceFilmGold'', Noé Velázquez, who reprised his role as Sanji from the 4Kids release, was originally selected to direct the dub but declined due to time limitations. Creator/PatriciaAcevedo accepted because her son is a fan of ''One Piece''. Said son, himself, Rodrigo, would go on to adapt the script for the dub and voice Sabo.

* Preview showings of the 4Kids version at conventions apparently had a different opening, one that [[TranslatedCoverVersion used the overall music of "We Are", but with English lyrics]] (similar to what Funimation would do for the first three season once they got the series) with Creator/DanGreen as the narrator and Creator/EricStuart as Gold Roger. * Nami was initially going to have AnAxeToGrind as her main weapon. One of her early designs also featured her having scars, as well as a cybernetic-looking left arm and right foot.

* Madison Kauffman was considered for the role of Alvida.
