* When at the beginning of the episode, villains manage to capture a Ranger or make some Zords unusable.\\
You'd Expect: The villains stop overthinking plans and just send any giant monster that the Rangers need their complete arsenal to defeat.\\
Instead: Villains use captured ones as a bait, but the Rangers manage to free them.
* Any time the villains are about to win.\\
You'd Expect: Rangers call for all possible weapons and allies.\\
Instead: Mays villains' victories may have been prevented if Rangers called for every possible reinforcement.

** Also in the first few seasons, the enemies being able to make the monsters grow. In that case and only in that case, Rangers summon their Zords.\\

** In Master Vile and the Metallic Armor, Master Vile steals the Zords, the Zeo Crystal, and turn them into a destruction weapon on a remote planet.\\
You'd Expect: The Zords and the crystal to be guarded by the most powerful villains. Especially the energy stealer who defeated the Zords because Rangers can't destroy it without killing their friend Ninjor.\\
Instead: The planet was... unguarded. Not even by mooks like most season 2 "bait and trap" episodes.

You'd Expect: Tommy, Rocky, and Kat, being even more out-numbered trying to prevent Rito from planting the Orb, to call for the metallic armor themselves to even the odds and gain ahold of the Orb.\\
Instead: They unsuccessfully attempt to fend off the forces, allowing Rito to correctly guess where the Orb is supposed to be planted, set it there, and cause the Rangers to all revert to being children who can't use their powers, thus setting up a 10-episode arc where they have to call Rangers from another planet and retrieve the Zeo Crystal to reverse the Orb's effects.

* Franchise/PowerRangers: Especially in its first few seasons, the Rangers themselves were goody goods. Little to no negative behavior and all. But on occasion, Rita, Lord Zedd or the Machine Empire would place a spell on the team or some members to cause problems (such as Tommy debuting as an evil Power Ranger). This happened a good number of times.\\

You’d Expect: Them to only do it as a last resort, knowing that the Rangers will retaliate by summoning their Megazord.\\
Instead: They frequently do it when the monster can still fight, or even when the monster is winning.

Furthermore: After the Rangers get their asses kicked, again and again and again, Rita never bothers to order her minions to finish the job, not even after . She goes further than that and specifically orders Goldar, Scorpina and Tommy to retreat every time she wins, just so she can go into the next episode declaring she'll destroy the Rangers once and for all instead of, you know, doing it when she had a chance. Let's face it, Rita is a whole new bucket of WhatAnIdiot.

But to be fair: At this point, the Rangers were under a tremendous amount of stress, especially with Zordon and Eltar under attack and feeling a lot of anxiety and helplessness about it (Dimitria, on Zordon's orders, tells them that they can't leave Earth to help, in spite of the news) which really didn't help boost their morale. And probably because of the amount of pressure, they were not thinking straight and didn't take the time to assess the situation more carefully, which they normally would have done considering how they had TJ as their leader who is usually level-headed and cautious.

The snake didn't appear until late in part 2, the Rangers had no way of knowing whether or not the cave was unguarded, and in part 3, the Rangers split up (White, Pink, Blue, and Yellow save their friends, Red and Black fight Terror Blossom). As for AD So P, Kat was only outside because Rita sent her there (the moment Ernie was out of sight). She was still under Rita's spell at the time. By the time she broke free from the spell, she was too late.

** From "The Ninja Encounter", there's this: Zedd has kidnapped Rocky, Aisha, Adam, and their instructor, and put them in a cave with a magic snake which if it bites them will turn them completely evil. The Rangers go to rescue them, but Zedd's sent down a monster to fight them.\\
You'd Expect: The Rangers to just go in and save their friends from the snake, given they're right at the mouth of the cave, and they're not guarded, so saving the four shouldn't be difficult at all.\\
Instead: They say there's "no time", and rush off to fight the monster, leaving their friends at the snake's mercy for the next two episodes.\\
Making this worse: Once they beat the monster, they go back to rescue their friends, and it takes less than a minute to destroy the snake and free them. Yeah, real time crunch you got there, heroes.

Making this worse: Kat is right outside the Juice Bar while Kim is practicing. It would be such an easy rewrite to have Kat be Kim's spotter, pushing her to not give up and overexert herself, then when Kat realizes what she's doing, it's too late and Kim falls and hurts herself.

If the Power Blaster didn't break his spell (in part 3), using their other/individual weapons wouldn't have worked, either.

** From the season 2 premier, there's the rangers versus Pirantishead. The rangers meet the newly arrived Zedd's newest monster, and immediately summon their zords. Pirantishead freezes the triceratops, mastodon, sabertooth-tiger and pterodactyl zords on the spot. However, the T-rex is still unfrozen.\\
You'd expect: The rangers would perhaps try and attack Pirantishead while he's doing this so they don't loose all their zords.\\
Instead: They just stand there and watch as it takes control of the T-rex and sets it on them. And then it goes and does the exact same thing with the Dragonzord.\\
Making this worse: for the next two episodes, at no point do the rangers seem to think shooting Pirantishead with their guns and disrupting his magic is an option, meaning he always manages to remain ahead of them.

They needed the Ultrazord to destroy Crayfish and ALL of the remaining Mutant Rangers. Not just one.

** Another from Mighty Morphin, "Mighty Morphin Mutants": The monster, Commander Crayfish, and evil clones of the Green, Blue, and Black Rangers have undergone MakeMyMonsterGrow and are fighting the Megazords. The Evil Rangers form a human chair and elevate Crayfish onto their shoulders, leading Billy to announce he's above their Blasters' range, leaving them sitting ducks.\\
You'd Expect: Someone in this collective braintrust would think to disassemble the Megazord and let Kimberly take the Pterodactyl (which can fly) and use her individual blasters to knock Crayfish back down to the ground. And then finish him off with the Dragonzord Battle Mode.\\
Instead: They keep barreling straight ahead, taking a few intense hits, then summon Titanus to simply overpower him (which worked, but still.)
