* GeniusBruiser: The Ripping Friends are actually scientific pioneers, and earn their HeroInsurance through breakthroughs in all fields of study. Unfortunately, they're also as idiotic as they look.

** A more logical [[AchillesHeel weakness]] for The Ripping Friends is lack of meat. If they're not gorging themselves regularly with meat products, their muscles shrink and they become skinny frail wimps.

* Expy: Rip is basically just Kirk Douglas, one of the many references John K. makes to his favorite actor.

* MissingEpisode: The episodes "The Infernal Wedding" and "Jimmy Gets Kidnapped" were left out of the Fox Kids broadcast of the series because it was just after 9/11 and the depiction of Citrocet as an evil foreign dictator who liked to blow up buildings was considered too controversial. (Oddly, they left in "Stinky Butt," which begins with Citrocet having already blown the Earth into multiple floating space chunks.) The episodes were added again during the Adult Swim airing.

** In "The Ovulator" Chunk's disembodied head flies past a mustached ranger in a helicopter, who then turns to the audience and says "Some way or another I bet [[WesternAnimation/YogiBear THAT bear]] is behind this."

** In "Jimmy Gets Kidnapped" a talking gorilla dances while singing "Oot Greet" which was a well known [[MAD Don Martin]] sound effect.

** In "Jimmy Gets Kidnapped" a talking gorilla dances while singing "Oot Greet" which was a well known [[Magazine/MAD Don Martin]] sound effect.

The series aired on FOXKids in the twilight years of the block (and of Saturday morning cartoons in general) and once aired on AdultSwim (since this show, like ''Ren and Stimpy'' looks way too gross and sexual to be considered "children's entertainment").

* ExecutiveMeddling and OldShame: John K claims the show was so watered down and far removed from what he originally planned it to be that he can hardly watch it. We can thank Canadian on-model standards for this.

* TheOtherDarrin: Crag was originally voiced by Harvey Atkin, who voiced Sam in SamAndMaxFreelancePolice, but was replaced by newscaster Mark Dailey.

The hallmark of Kricfalusi's work is the custom poses for acting purposes. Unfortunately, as the Canadian studios apparently decided that [[http://johnkstuff.blogspot.com/2007/10/maintaining-guts-from-department-to.html in order to be successful the show needed to be perfectly on-model]]. Almost all of the entertainment value that should have existed is gone, and John K. seemingly loathes this series.
