This crossover -- which marked Creator/WarnerBros Animation's final collaborative effort with Creator/StevenSpielberg -- came about entirely from ExecutiveMeddling (specifically, their insistence that ''WesternAnimation/PinkyAndTheBrain'' become LighterAndSofter). The writers didn't like this one bit; Peter Hastings not only [[WriterRevolt wrote an episode of the original series predicting the series' downfall because of the executives' demands]] ("You'll Never Eat Food Pellets in This Town Again"), but later left Warner Bros. to create Disney's OneSaturdayMorning. [[{{Hatedom}} To no one's surprise, the fans agreed with the writers]]. Only five full episodes of '''''Pinky, Elmyra & The Brain''''' aired before Warner Bros. pulled the plug, and the remaining segments were aired as part of the compilation program ''The Cat & Birdy Warneroonie Pinky Brainy Big Cartoonie Show'' for a grand total of 13 episodes.

** "That's Edutainment!" contains jokes at the expense of the E/I rule, Disney's OneSaturdayMorning (Pinky's response to AreYouPonderingWhatImPondering is "I think so, Brain, but ''WesternAnimation/PepperAnn'' makes me sneeze," and he later performs as a parody of Manny the Uncanny called Pinky the Unstinky), and the decision to put Elmyra in the show.

** In Brain's retelling of Cinderella in "Narfily Ever After", the story's counterparts of Brain and Pinky mention that one way inventing leather shoes in a society where glass footwear is the norm will be a good thing is that they won't see as much of the Old Woman who Lives in a Shoe, the obvious implication being that her transparent house doesn't hide her from passersby when she is naked in her house.
