[[http://knowyourmeme.com Know Your Meme]] is an internet series created by the Rocketboom Institute for Internet Studies, in which resident scientists Kenyatta Cheese (aka Yatta), Elspeth Jane (aka Ellie Rountree), and now-retired Jamie Wilkinson (aka Jamie Dubs) tackle on to provide general history of internet memes as well as to try and explain what exactly makes them memetic.

Older episodes were made JustForFun and all the research was done by the KYM staff themselves. But over time, the Know Your Meme website was created and most of the research is now done there. On the site, anyone can submit a basic meme article (akin to ThatOtherWiki), which, if the subject is deemed notable, is subsequently researched and expanded. Later on, the site was bought by the Cheezburger Network.

* ScandalGate: "[[http://knowyourmeme.com/memes/events/gate-suffix -gate (suffix)]]" (includes link to TVTropes page)

* WebOriginal/{{Zalgo}}: "[[http://knowyourmeme.com/memes/zalgo Zalgo]]" (includes link to TVTropes page)

** As of late [[http://knowyourmeme.com/memes/kym-tan KYM-Tan]] (the girl on the NSFW and Spoiler banners) has become another mascot. She has even been declared the site's official waifu.

** On April 1st, 2015, the Cringeworthy Gallery was reopened (but anyone who posted in it was given a 24-hour "ban" as part of the joke), entries for Don and Super Robo Jesus were confirmed, and the entry for [[RuleOfCautiousEditingJudgement the controversy that shall not be named]] was Deadpooled claiming that the [[PoliticalCorrectnessGoneMad SJWs]] have sued the website.
*** And the cursor was replaced with the Illuminati All-Seeing Eye triangle.
*** Also all usernames and profile pictures were replaced by variations on Don.

* CringeComedy: [[http://knowyourmeme.com/memes/cringeworthy The Cringeworthy]] gallery collects images of examples of this.
** Currently blocked due to users using it to attack others as well as constantly post bad fetish art and pictures pertaining to an inflated Disney/{{Hercules}}.

* ItWillNeverCatchOn: Many of the comments that were posted on the [[http://knowyourmeme.com/memes/bad-luck-brian Bad Luck Brian]] entry when the meme was first taking off were of this nature.

** ShapedLikeItself: [[http://knowyourmeme.com/memes/people/deadpool-marvel-comics Deadpool's page is deadpooled]]. The humor of this has not gone unnoticed.
*** Deadpool's page has been listed as "Researching" despite still being Deadpool, and it even has a pretty nice new page header made by Marvel execs themselves. It would seem even the site admins noticed as well.

** The Cringeworthy gallery gave way to some in-website memes during its run on the website, such as an [=MSPaint=] drawing of an alien with long fingernails saying "[[HowDoIUsedTense Time to killed people]]", a picture of two Franchise/SonicTheHedgehog [=OC=]s with one tiredly saying "I need blood" as the other OC insists that they take hers, and the infamous "Herculoon", a drawing of Disney/{{Hercules}} with the [[BalloonBelly proportions of a beach ball]]. However, the closing of the Cringeworthy gallery saw the popularity of these memes plummet, as they became symbols of how much of a mess the website became during the Cringeworthy period. As a result, [[OldShame almost no one on the website looks back on them with kindness]], and non-ironic posts involving them (especially ones with the Herculoon) are often down-voted into oblivion.
** "Know Your Fetish" and "Know Your Trump", phrases that users jokingly throw around to make fun of the site's wide amount of articles covering FetishFuel and 2016 Republican presidential candidate Creator/DonaldTrump, respectively.

** ReviewIronicEcho: Commenters do this too. Most of the time, this is used as an insult.

* WellDoneSonGuy: The KYM community tends to be this towards 4chan, simply wanting to be loved by them. Reddit likes them, but only a fair number of users care.
** PetTheDog: [[http://knowyourmeme.com/photos/823806#comments It does happen, from time to time]].

* WesternAnimation/MyLittlePonyFriendshipIsMagic : [[http://knowyourmeme.com/memes/subcultures/my-little-pony-friendship-is-magic My Little Pony:Friendship is Magic]]

* AlternateUniverse : "[[http://knowyourmeme.com/memes/subcultures/alternate-universe Alternate Universe]]"

* EpicFail: "[[http://knowyourmeme.com/memes/epic-fail-guy Epic Fail Guy]]"

* BerserkButton:
** Never try to force a meme on Know Your Meme.
** Anything from 9gag. Many of the commenters frequent its rivals Website/FourChan and {{Reddit}} and it shows. Even Reddit is starting to get this treatment, though.
** Advice Animals, with a few exceptions.
** "Know Your Meme is for DOCUMENTING memes, not creating them!"
** Twitter hashtags, mainly due to being perceived as useless and over abundant.
** Anything related to [[PoliticalCorrectnessGoneMad "Social Justice Warriors"]] or "Tumblr feminists".
** Similar to the above, people who identify themselves as extreme "anti social justice warriors" are also a berserk button on the basis that they're considered [[NotSoDifferent just as annoying as their SJW counterparts]].
