This is {{justified}} by reveals in Dream Drop Distance: during his experiments, Terranort figured out that hearts are always 50% light and 50% darkness, and when attempting to split a Heartless into a heart of pure light and one of pure darkness, those two hearts were always fighting each other.

No time travel means Maleficent was KilledOffForReal. This Fridge Horror is given further fuel by the fact Maleficent was AdaptedOut of ''Kingdom Hearts II'', and was ultimately confirmed by WordOfGod.
