** Vegeta manages to escape his prison in the Entity Saga, but quickly finds he has no idea where to go since he can't leave Earth.
** Flash and Mera have to leave Broly and War World, not having the time or manpower to free the planet from Mongul.
** As Rogal Zaar is suffering a CurbStompBattle from the now Super Saiyan Kakarot, he refuses to quit, swearing on behalf of races killed by the Saiyans that he will kill Kakarot. This looks like it will be the set up for a [[InvertedTrope Villainous]] [[HeroicSecondWind Second Wind]]. Except hince he doesn't have any kind of power up to pull out like Frieza did in the Namek Saga, his determination just prolongs the beating.
** When Kakarot wants to leave Mogo, he has a problem since even though Mogo is a Green Lantern, he can't get too close to a planet or his own gravity will wreck havoc on it. Kakarot has the idea of Mogo creating a giant slingshot and firing him to the nearest planet in a sphere of energy. Kakarot finds the trip to be very boring since he's inside a sphere with nothing to do and [[DidNotThinkThisThrough realizes he didn't think of any way to ensure a soft landing when approaches the planet.]]
** When Kakarot arrives on War World, Mongul's plan to defeat Kakarot sees Raditz appear. [[spoiler: Raditz had been brought back to life at the end of the Entity Saga,]] but how did end up on a distant planet? He didn't, it was all an illusion as Kakarot fell under the influence of the Black Mercy.
** Most of the Earth has '''NOT''' forgiven Vegeta for the people killed in his attack. A large group of supervillains even team up to kill him.
** [[spoiler: Gohan's]] debut fight sees him face ComicBook/{{Deathstroke}}, Major Force, and the Parasite. After he easily knocks out Major Force, Deathstroke, the only villain of the trio with no powers, gives up without any resistance. Deathstroke is a BadassNormal but he just saw he was up against opponent who could move so fast he could see him and knock out one of his superpowered teammates with a single blow, he had no chance of winning of he knew it. No PopularityPower aids Deathstroke like the infamous fight in ''ComicBook/IdentityCrisis'' where he took on the entire Justice League a confronation that is widely regarded as a laughable FightSceneFailure.
** Kakarot and [[spoiler: Gohan]] get into a [[LetsYouAndHimFight scuffle]]. [[spoiler: Gohan]] proves a match for the older Saiyan in terms of power, but he lacks his experience and martial arts training. Unsurprisingly, Kakarot emerges the victor. In fact while [[spoiler: Gohan]] is noted to have greater potentional raw power, his lack of control means he doesn't draw on it all once anyways.
** Godspeed intends to kill Kakarot in The Doom Saga [[FantasticRacism due to him being a Saiyan]]. Kakarot points out that the Saiyans' victims were all brought to life. [[VillainHasAPoint Godspeed responds that while deaths were undone, the physical damage they cause wasn't, meaning millions of people were left homeless]], something ''Dragon Ball'' glossed over in a similar incident when the victims of Demon King Piccolo were brought back to life, but the damage he caused wasn't undone.
** Kale and Caulifla's ADayInTheLimeLight sees the latter steal a GreenLanternRing from Cabba. She initially appears to be an InstantExpert with the ring but quickly sees that she only understands the basics.

* WorfHadTheFlu: Kakarot's friends arrive to help him against Rogal Zaar, but since they are all worn out from the fights to obtain the Entities, they aren't able to provide enough help to win and are forced to retreat back to Earth.

** BigBadDuumvirate: Rogal Zaar and [[spoiler: ComicBook/{{Sinestro}}]] for the Entity Saga. Rogal Zaar sees one of the view surviving Saiyans out in space and seeks to kill him. Sinestro starts off as SealedEvilInACan before manipulating the heroes into allowing his release. The two villains have apparently worked together in the past, and when [[spoiler: Sinestro]] is free he attempts to help Rogal Zaar kill Kakarot.

* '''Origins Saga''': For decades, the Saiyans terrorized the universe until being destroyed by the hunter known as [[ComicBook/BrianMichaelBendisSuperman Rogal Zaar]]. But the destruction of Planet Vegeta was not the end for their race. One young Saiyan survived by being rocketed to Earth by his parents, where a [[Franchise/{{Superman}} kindly couple]] took him in. The others were cast adrift into the wide universe... and would meet a much [[ComicBook/{{Darkseid}} darker fate]]...

Compare with Fanfic/DragonBallSteven which has a similar premise with the Dragon Ball characters and puts them in setting of ''WesternAnimation/StevenUniverse''.

In order to fight him, Damian brings out a giant robot TyrannosaurusRex name Juliet, leaing to a PrimateVersusReptile BehemothBattle referencing the, at the time of airing, upcoming ''Film/MonsterVerse'' ''Film/GodzillaVsKong''. Juliet even uses MightyRoar of the Monsterverse Godzilla.

Godspeed rightly points out how ridicilous it is to let a multi-billion dollar corperation fall into the hands of a child.
* ShipTease: The Origin Saga teased the possibility of romance with Kakarot and Wonder Woman, but then her love interest Steve Trevor was introduced.
** Kakarot has since had this with ComicBook/LadyShiva, with him using ThePowerOfLove to teleport back Earth.
* ShoutOut: The series makes some nods to ''WebVideo/DragonBallZAbridged''.
** When Vegeta faces the Injustice Gang in The Super Saiyan Saga, the narration state their bad jokes were about the most damage any of the earthlings had done to him since he faced te Justice League, in a knod to Vegeta's fight with Semi-Perfect Cell when Vegeta admitted a [[ActuallyPrettyFunny legimately clever insult by Cell]] was the closest thing to damage he had done the entire fight.

Instead the threat he posed came from him employing hit and run attacks [[CrazyPrepared while utilizing a number of traps and gadgets he prepared.]] But by the time most of Kakarot's allies arrived to help against him, [[WorfHadTheFlu they were weak from taking part in fights to obtain the rest of the Entities.]] The Super Saiyan Saga lacked any villains who posed a physical threat to Kakarot, the closest brush he had to with death came from when he reignited the sun of the Thanagarians and Tameranians, after their attempts to kill him nearly destroyed it.

The other three surviving Saiyans had the misfortune of being saved by ComicBook/{{Darkseid}}, [[BeingTorturedMakesYouEvil tortured into his warriors for years]] before he sent them attack Earth.

* '''The Doom Saga''': Kakarot senses the power of the new Super Saiyan and flies to his rescue against the Parasite. Right after that he learns two shocking revelations; the Saiyan is his son, and Kakarot is dying.
