[[WMG: What are the fake Queens?]]
Like the Firelight Swords, the fake Queens are ([[LivingWeapon technically, another]]) instance of unexplained artificial replicas of known characters from the previous worlds, so put your guesses here:
* They were incomplete backup bodies for Melia and Nia from within Origin, or more precisely they were robotic copies of themselves that they were meant to operate remotely as the Intersection was happening. As the Intersection would have killed everyone on Bionis and Alrest (including the real Queens), the fake Queens were meant for their consciousnesses to take over to ensure Origin would operate properly as the two worlds were being rebuilt, and would then become fully new flesh-and-blood bodies for the Queens once Origin finished rebuilding everyone's data. However, when Aionios was created and Z was born, he hijacked the robot Queens and turned them into his own personal figureheads and mouthpieces, leaving Melia and Nia in incomplete control of their duplicates and making their AI obey him instead of their originals. This explains why Fake!Melia doesn't have a proper face (as she was literally incomplete), and why the real Melia had some sort of unconscious connection to her. And it's also eerily similar to the AI Professors plot twist in ''VideoGame/PokemonScarletAndViolet'', which has already been compared to this sometimes.

In Garfont, an NPC mentions that Vandham was born with a different name, then took the name Vandham when he founded the Garfont Mercenaries. So, although it isn't shown onscreen, when Rex becomes the new leader of the mercenaries, he also becomes the new Vandham. The name gets passed on to his kids, including Mio, who passes it on to Noah and eventually to Matthew.

[[WMG: What are Rex's Firelight Swords?]]
Unlike Shulk's Monado REX+, we never get an explanation of where Rex's Firelight Swords come from (as they're replicas of the original Aegis swords), so we can put our guesses here:
* They were developed by Tora after the events of ''[=XC2=]'', with Pyra and Mythra's input, in order to allow Rex to use their powers without having to rely on them being there all the time.
* They are a figment of Rex's imagination that manifests as his personal Blade in Aionios, based on his experience with the real Aegis swords, having to do so because of the Aegis twins not incarnating in Aionios alongside him (actually being part of the Origin metal that was used to make Matthew's gauntlets).

* Vandham is still possible (we still don't know how or why Matthew started calling himself by it, so he could have learned it from Rex off-screen), but Jossed for Reid and Cassini, whose founders are most likely the children of Reyn and Sharla (Panacea) and Zeke and Pandoria (Linka), respectively. There is a possibility that Shulk's surname is ''Ortiz'', since Nikol is confirmed to be his and Fiora's son.

* My vote is for Alexandria to be Mythra's daughter. Her hair color is wrong (though hair color can change over time), but her Class specializes in [[CriticalHitClass Crits,]] her Core Crystal is emerald (thought not quite the Aegis' aqua, and it's shaped like a diamond instead of a Zohar), and her BrutalHonesty makes social interactions challenging for her.

*** The other big clue is Linka, who is all-but-stated to be Zeke and Pandoria's daughter. Unlike Rex (who is visibly aged up in the family photo), Zeke was already an adult and [[SheIsNotMyGirlfriend unofficially]] coupled with Pandoria for years by the time ''2'' took place, so it stands to reason that they had Linka before Rex's children were born (though why she's not in the photo if that's true is an open question). And unlike the most of the cast, Linka was never reborn through Origin, so her (teen) age is the same as it was when the worlds collided. This seems to put an upper age limit on Rex's children that precludes them from having their own children before the merge, so if Mio is related to Nia at all (as her core crystal suggests), being her daughter is the option that makes the most chronological sense.

sense. This also also fits neatly with Mio's unused concept art which depicts her (presumably pre-Aionios since she's wearing a dress instead of a uniform) as a child about the same age as Noah was in the flashback cutscene.

* Just as ''Future Redeemed'' had expies of Unique Monsters from ''[=XC1=]'' (with a couple from ''[=XC2=]''), many of the Unique Monsters will be expies and/or references to ones from ''[=XC2=]''. Possibilities include:
** A [[KillerRabbit cute, small critter]] serving as a brutal {{superboss}}, similar to Chickenheart Dagmara as well as Despotic Arsene from the first game. How about a killer [[PlayfulOtter Ottil]] given how cute and popular the species is?
** A [[TRexpy Sauros]] similar to [[BeefGate Goliath Sauros]] and Leonine Sadie, with the species making its return after being absent in the base game and ''Future Redeemed''.
** A Tyrannotitan Kurodil expy as the equivalent to Fogdweller Abaasy.
** An Artifice. If the plot goes the "fake Queens' programming possesses Pyra and Mythra" route, then a rogue Siren would be an obvious choice for a {{superboss}}.

** Pyra and Mythra, as a SuspiciouslySimilarSubstitute to Rex in ''Future Redeemed'' and a two-in-one party member. While now in separate bodies, the two still tag out with each other with a SwitchOutMove (which the AI can be directed on), and perform a FusionDance into "Pneuma" for their Talent Art. They also appear separately in cutscenes, and share some of their Battle Skills with Rex, but not his Arts (instead using their own Arts from ''[=XC2=]'').

** The DummiedOut "Lambert" character from the first game, who'd be related to Zeon or Crys.

** The fake Queens, also fleshed out into actual characters, and explained as having survived the world reboot due to their artificial nature. The plot could perhaps involve their AI glitching and performing a DemonicPossession on Pyra and Mythra (one each), echoing Na'el and Alpha as well as the fake Queens' own role in marketing ({{Superdickery}} involving a SuddenSequelHeelSyndrome). Just like the aforementioned Consul A, their goal would be a return to the ForeverWar of Aionios. Similar to Na'el, Pyra/Mythra would be the postgame party member if the plot went this route.

* The explorable areas would be more distinct and faithful versions of returning areas from ''[=XC1=]'' and ''[=XC2=]'', and possibly a new version of the City. This would reflect how the new world is a properly constructed reboot rather than the hodgepodge of Aionios. Possibly even revamped versions of Bionis' Shoulder and Torna, the areas from previous expansions.
