There's a reason Gavaldon's bookseller was changed from a man to a woman (and one played by a big name like Creator/PattiLuPone at that) for the film. As Professor Sader has been AdaptedOut and Dean Lesso already takes cues from Evelyn, Deuville be a largely original character. She longed to be chosen to attend the schools, similar to Sophie, but her fairy tale dreams went unrealized. In an adaptation of ''A World without Princes'', Deuville will aid the Schoolmaster's resurrection because he promises to give the woman her own story.
