[[WMG: The Sprixie Kingdom is on another planet.]]
Think about it. The kingdom is accessed through a clear pipe which takes the heroes through what seems to be some pink wormhole, and there's no confirmation on where exactly the Sprixie Kingdom is. Further evidence is the Comet Observatory being there. It wouldn't make sense for it to still be above Mario's home world, as it left at the end of Galaxy 2, and isn't going to return in the next 100 years. Therefore, it's plausible that Mario and his friends arrived on another planet, and the Comet Observatory happened to be there at the time they were visiting.

Specifically, you select the worlds in the same manner as in ''SMG2'', and there are branching paths in the maps (thus allowing for secret exits like in the ''New Super Mario Bros.'' games).

[[WMG: Bowser's Fury, plot adjustments and new characters?]]
Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker was retconned to take place before Odyssey in the 3DS/Switch release, compared to 3D World in the Wii U's release. possibly, this game takes place after Odyssey. or possibly Captain Toad's stages will instead be referenced in the form of flashbacks for his stages, rather than occurring contemporary with Mario and the gang's journey's through the Sprixies' world. Bowser's Fury will presumably either feature a playable Bowser, facing revenge from the Broodals. or possibly features new characters for his world. or possibly Bowser will have his own antagonist+playstyle.

Toadette will probably be found in Bowser's Fury and become an unlockable character, mostly as a callback to Toadette wanting to explore the world in Odyssey's aftergame. since she was added to New Super Mario Bros U Deluxe, she could be seen as a way to add longevity to the game. she also has a cat suit color in Mario Maker 2, which is a deeper shade of Peach's pink, but otherwise the same style as Toad's blue-colored cat suit, they may as well make use of the graphics they made for the game, if she-by proxy appeared earlier in the New Super Mario Bros style.

a wideball could be that Toadette is from doing all of Captain Toad's levels (sans Bowser's Fury), and instead the next playable character is Daisy. may as well give a use to her Smash Bros variant amiibo. it's also a little strange they gave focus to Super Mario Land in the 35th anniversary video, but nothing like Land 2. has to be some minor merit in that game's powerball powerup is in Mario Maker 2 to boot!
** Toadette appears as an NPC in Bowser's fury after it's been beaten once, but there are no new player characters and only Mario is playable in that campaign.

[[WMG: Was Bowser's Fury a scrapped DLC for [[VideoGame/SuperMarioOdyssey Super Mario Odyssey]]?]]
The port includes various quality-of-life adjustments, such as the new movement options, that besides the fact Cappy isnt present, would seem familiar to an Odyssey fan. Another quality of life improvement is the ability to ground pound into a pipe, or roll if the pipe is sideways-facing, and youll not only travel faster, it even uses the same sound effect.

And if we get into the new side-mode itself, Lake Lapcat feels, and even looks like it could have been rebranded from "Catnip Kingdom" or something along the lines. For starters, the idea to include an Odyssey-style side mode when the
main campaign uses Galaxy-styled levels is a baffling one. A new free camera is present, while the "Grid-like movement" is gone, not to mention those "new" moves were likely made with Bowser's Fury in mind (Though they thankfully let us use them in the main campaign). Not only does cat shine collecting have similar-feeling tasks for your average moon (There are general moons, shard-like moons, and even multiple moons out in the open, designed to give you some quick moons while waiting for something). Not only that, but earning a moon uses the same animation, and it doesnt send you back to the cat-shaped gate, it lets you continue off from what you were doing, like Odyssey. Also, like Odyssey, if you die in Bowser's Fury, you dont lose lives, you instead drop ten coins.

It is also unknown why this DLC kingdom in particular could have been scrapped in the first place, or if it was tweaked here and there to incorporate powerups, and even the ink-cloaked lad himself.
