Thats when we reallize that Madoka and her friends were all part of Jowee's mind, messed up by Wilfre. The ending credits may paraell these events, Madoka walking past her friends represents her train of thoughts just before making the wish that would wake up Jowee, and Madoka running repressents "Madoka" running to find her friends, her floating in the mask repressents "Madoka" trying to blend in with the Raposa, hoping they might think of her as a visitor and not knowing that "she's" on of them. As if the series wasn't whammy enough...

A little guy comes and offers the girls an offer of a great pleasure. The catch is, once they are in, they can't get out, with death being the only apparent exit. They also need to constantly find these "Grief Seeds" to survive. They ''fight'' each other to obtain them. Not to mention that when in the proccess of extracting these "seeds" they find themselves in such a [[HighOctaneNightmareFuel bizarre space (or state of consciousness)]].
[[FanNickname Homuhomu]], an already addict, comes and tries to warn Madoka about not getting into it if she cares about her life and family. Some think it is because this would reduce the amount of narcotics she can acquire, but maybe it is really because she doesn't want others to suffer her same fate. She tries to shoot down the dealer, Kyubey, before it's too late. But the girls find him and get interested in the thing after a little try. They meet Mami, a "veteran" in this and tries to turn them in as well. She started consuming them because she "had no choice", she had no family, she was alone and depressed. It "saved her life". What was the result of having this way of life for so long? [[spoiler: Her death. The drug itself "consumed" her. It "destroyed" her head]].
Horrified, the girls doubt. But Sayaka, who has her own problems, becomes more and more interested. Kyubey is constantly trying to make Madoka turn in; as to what the potential about her he is talking about means, I'm not really sure yet. When Kyouko comes, she is not really interested in stopping the death of the innocent lives all the narcotrafic or the drugs themselves cause. More for her.
However, later they find out just how much these things deteriorate their bodies, to the point of [[spoiler:Kyouko pointing out they have become something like zombies]] in episode 6, and even she is disturbed. Sayaka [[spoiler:collapses when her "stuff" is taken away from her]]. They really can't go on without it.
So, maybe now you will think differently next time you see these girls [[UnusualEuphemism "fighting witches"]].

[[FanNickname Homuhomu]], an already addict, comes and tries to warn Madoka about not getting into it if she cares about her life and family. Some think it is because this would reduce the amount of narcotics she can acquire, but maybe it is really because she doesn't want others to suffer her same fate. She tries to shoot down the dealer, Kyubey, before it's too late. But the girls find him and get interested in the thing after a little try. They meet Mami, a "veteran" in this and tries to turn them in as well. She started consuming them because she "had no choice", she had no family, she was alone and depressed. It "saved her life". Thats when we reallize that Madoka and her friends were all part of Jowee's mind, messed up by Wilfre. The ending credits may paraell these events, Madoka walking past her friends represents her train of thoughts just before making the wish that would wake up Jowee, and Madoka running repressents "Madoka" running to find her friends, her floating in the mask repressents "Madoka" trying to blend in with the Raposa, hoping they might think of her as a visitor and not knowing that "she's" on of them. As if the series wasn't whammy enough...

A little guy comes and offers the girls an offer of a great pleasure. The catch is, once they are in, they can't get out, with death being the only apparent exit. They also need to constantly find these "Grief Seeds" to survive. They ''fight'' each other to obtain them. Not to mention that when in the proccess of extracting these "seeds" they find themselves in such a [[HighOctaneNightmareFuel bizarre space (or state of consciousness)]].
[[FanNickname Homuhomu]], an already addict, comes and tries to warn Madoka about not getting into it if she cares about her life and family. Some think it is because this would reduce the amount of narcotics she can acquire, but maybe it is really because she doesn't want others to suffer her same fate. She tries to shoot down the dealer, Kyubey, before it's too late. But the girls find him and get interested in the thing after a little try. They meet Mami, a "veteran" in this and tries to turn them in as well. She started consuming them because she "had no choice", she had no family, she was alone and depressed. It "saved her life". What was the result of having this way of life for so long? [[spoiler: Her death. The drug itself "consumed" her. It "destroyed" her head]].
Horrified, the girls doubt. But Sayaka, who has her own problems, becomes more and more interested. Kyubey is constantly trying to make Madoka turn in; as to what the potential about her he is talking about means, I'm not really sure yet. When Kyouko comes, she is not really interested in stopping the death of the innocent lives all the narcotrafic or the drugs themselves cause. More for her.
However, later they find out just how much these things deteriorate their bodies, to the point of [[spoiler:Kyouko pointing out they have become something like zombies]] in episode 6, and even she is disturbed. Sayaka [[spoiler:collapses when her "stuff" is taken away from her]]. They really can't go on without it.
So, maybe now you will think differently next time you see these girls [[UnusualEuphemism "fighting witches"]].

She seemed very worried about Sayaka's gem darkening, even though Kyubey apparently never told what would happen if the gem became completely dark. Perhaps she've seen a fellow magical girl become a witch before Sayaka (Elsa Maria, perhaps) and thought that becoming a witch corrupted her soul gem, killing her in the process, but never really knew that Puella Magi, as well as herself, ''were'' Soul Gems.

The witch we see is just the result of the fusion. The girl who became a witch probably wished to not be lonely, or to have many friends, thus, enabling her, as a witch, to fuse with other witches and become really [[PowerOfFriendship powerful]].

It has shown that a defeated witch's grief seed has a usage limit, or else, the witch might wake up again. Perhaps Kyubey has a way to recycle it into the same witches, over and over, by putting said Grief Seed near places where people tend to have negative emotions (like schools, hospitals and places where people tend to commit suicides/crimes; Charlotte's Grief Seed could be a recycled one). It could be a way to not extinguish the planet's power source so quickly, as well as a way to invite new mahou shoujo and make them able to defeat witches for a while before becoming witches by themselves. The way he "ate" the Grief Seed was different from the way he ate his own corpse; actually, he could be storing the Grief Seeds for later reuse, instead of just plainly eating them.

The process of recharging magic involves putting the darkness from inside the Soul Gem into the Grief Seed. It's only logical to assume witches can do something similar with their own Grief Seeds, especially since [[spoiler: Grief Seeds are just corrupted Soul Gems.]]
As a corollary, this is the reason why Kyuubey devours "used up" Grief Seeds. If a roving witch stumbles across a nearly-revived Grief Seed, it could easily get a new ally. Which is why she's trying to turn Madoka away from the hero's path - becoming a hero puts at risk everyone and everything that you love, and as the audience knows full well, Madoka has a ''lot'' to lose in that area.

It wouldn't be hard to see how this would result in her cynical view of Magical Girls

And then getting so shocked by newfound emotions, that his new persona even travelled back in time to undo the whole plan. Even Homura's relative inability to manipulate people might be somewhat explained by feeling the result of such manipulations personally.
