She's way too hot after 11 kids to be aging on a human scale. Her mysterious disappearance must have been some ritual or problem relating to her Pokemon family she couldn't let on. That eternal CatSmile is bit of a clue - she must be related to the Mews. Her affinity for water Pokemon is a combination of love of fish and an attempt to overcome a fear of water gone wrong.

Of course, the biggest difference between them is that Harley is a mean person, while Nando is a nice person. So, either Nando is not aware that Harley is mean behind the scenes (maybe he missed that one Contest where Harley broadcasted May's humiliating childhood story about the Tentacool over the PA system), or he ''is'' aware but treats it as a case of "separating art from the artist"; i.e. he admires Harley's performances but not his actual behaviour off the stage. If the former is true, Nando would suffer a particularly serious case of BrokenPedestal if he were ever to meet Harley in person.

[[WMG: The writers of the original series never played the original games farther than Misty's gym.]]
The first seven episodes take place exclusively in game locations - Pallet Town, Viridian City, two episodes in Viridian Forest, Pewter City, Mt. Moon, and Cerulean City. Immediately following this episodes start being set in anime-exclusive locations, some of the game locations (such as the Cycling Road and Bill's Lighthouse) make no geographical sense when put up against the game locations on either side, and the only game "dungeon" that appears afterwards is the S.S. Anne (which even then is renamed to the ''St.'' Anne). Even when Ash goes to Lavender Town to catch a Ghost-type the town's iconic Lavender Tower is completely missing, with Ash instead going to a haunted mansion. Silph Co. is only represented by a Team Rocket teleport trap at the start of the first Saffron City episode, and neither the Rocket Game Corner nor the Seafoam Islands are ever mentioned (at least, in Japan; two later filler episodes were dubbed as having taken place on the latter). This extends into Johto as well, since the major caves (Dark Cave, Union Cave and the Ice Path) are also all absent.

[[WMG: The animators were leery of Psychic-type move effects after what happened with Porygon...]]
...which explains why no directly Psychic-type attacking Pokémon joined the main cast. Although a small handful of Psychic-types would have been in the main cast before (Starmie, Wobbuffet, Chimecho, Mime Jr, Woobat) it isn't until James's Inkay in XY that a main character's Psychic-type ''uses'' a Psychic move, something easily explained by being fearful of showy move effects after what happened in the Porygon episode.

[[WMG:Pokémon cries vastly influenced the development of human language in this world.]]
Pokémon are all just named for the noises they make. When early humans needed terms for other things, they thought of Pokémon the currently-nameless object or concept reminded them of and made words based on the Pokémon's names. In other words, it's not some wild coincidence that Bulbasaur has a bulb on its back and its call sounds like "bulbasaur". It’s called a Bulbasaur because it says "bulbasaur", and bulbs are called that because they look like the thing on the back of a Bulbasaur. The direction of the etymology is reversed.

* And why does Lola need to be a man? Other than the ShoutOut, I mean. Seems to me that Flint finding another woman after his first wife's death is more plausible than him [[AssPull suddenly and out of nowhere coming out as gay or bi]], especially with American ideas about what is or isn't OK to show kids. No, I'm not reading American values into a Japanese show. The "Lola" question only exists [[DubInducedPlotHole in the dub]], [[AcceptableTargets which was a]] [[Creator/FourKidsEntertainment 4kids]] [[AcceptableTargets product]] and as such will reflect what Americans, especially American MoralGuardians, think is OK for kids. Honestly, getting them to avert NeverSayDie at all, even if it was through forcing the SadisticChoice between that aversion and showing ''double'' ParentalAbandonment, was probably a bigger step than we would have realized at the time. Expecting them to acknowledge homosexuality and/or bisexuality pushes that part way past the sanity limit even for a WMG.
