When early humans needed terms for other things, they thought of Pokémon the currently-nameless object or concept reminded them of and made words based on the Pokémon's names. In other words, it's not some wild coincidence that Bulbasaur has a bulb on its back and its call sounds like "bulbasaur". It’s called a Bulbasaur because it says "bulbasaur", and bulbs are called that because they look like the thing on the back of a Bulbasaur. The direction of the etymology is reversed.
