* It's all but confirmed that Spider was Redips from the very beginning; in the game's official soundtrack, there's a blurb written by the game's scenario writer from Redips' perspective, finding Spider's form and plotting to use it before the events of the game even occur.

[[WMG: The Giga City Rebels were declared not Maverick in the aftermath not because they were exonerated, but because nobody wanted the political shitstorm of General Redips' betrayal coming to light.]]
Let's face it, the Giga City Rebels were Mavericks in the more original sense of the term (dangerous reploid criminals). They ethnically cleansed the human population (forcibly expelling a population is ethnic cleansing, even if they didn't kill anyone), tortured to death prisoners of war, and planned on spreading a chemical substance that killed or drove murderously insane all but one of the reploid test subjects over half the planet. Crimes against humanity, war crimes and utilizing weapons of mass destruction. These are all major atrocities. However, with the Rebellion crushed, they likely couldn't just execute the survivors behind closed doors because of whatever backlash that might ensue, so they'd have to take it to trial. Unfortunately, with another Maverick Hunter leader going off the deep end with even more grandiose plans than Sigma ever did, letting this get out would break the confidence the population has with the Maverick Hunters even more than it already does. So both sides made a deal. The survivors get off scott-free and nobody blabs about General Redips' betrayal. No doubt this solution would fuel a lot of resentment, but that's a can to be kicked down the road.

[[WMG: The game's ending set up eight Mavericks for a sequel.]]

After Ferham's self-destruction, there appear to be exactly 8 re-entry trails visible emanating from the blast: it is possible that it was done to leave a window in for a sequel, to power 8 new Mavericks.

* One last thing to consider is that [[spoiler: Redips name is Spider backwards. There's really no way that could just be a coincidence.]]

Massimo's inherited suit of armor has several animalistic features, such as a bird-like beak as a visor and large red wings on the back. In concept art, the original Steel Massimo had a tail too. His name also follows the typical two-word Maverick naming convention (ie. Chill Penguin, Burn Rooster). This implies that he was one of these animal-type Reploids too, which would make him one of the few animal Reploids to not go Maverick in the series so far. What animal he is may be up for debate; he most closely resembles a dragon or gryphon.
