There is no way Earth governments would let someone like Doyle represent humans to the galaxy, but they would want to send a spy. Conclusion: Doyle is Spy who only acts as he does because it's his cover. He's military intelligence, just having graduated from a military academy. He's old, more mature, smarter and better behaved than he appears but he keeps asking himself how a teenage civilian would act, and he doesn't think well of teenagers or civilians. (He also assumes Aimee is a CIA agent and he's impressed by her ability to stay in character; actually, she really is a teenager, the governments sent her so they could more easily lie about Doyle.) His greater than claimed age improves his atheltic skills.

[[WMG:Doyle and Aimee are MiB agents in training.]]
Of course, they don't know it yet, but MiB, using criteria beyond the understanding of us common folk, have identified Doyle and Aimee as MiB agent candidates. They've been sent to attend school amongst a variety of alien species and cultures to give them first-hand knowledge of what they'll be dealing with back on earth, and to determine if, indeed, they can deal with it. If not, they'll simply be neuralyzed and have an alternate high school career manufactured for them.
