...because if [[spoiler: [[KaraNoKyoukai Shiki Ryougi]] and Arcueid have cameos in Fate/EXTRA]], this makes sense. Also, Shiki might say he's looking for [[spoiler: Arcueid]] as an inverse of what happened in Fate/EXTRA.

Much like how only another Servant can summon a fictional Servant; an [[spoiler: NPC]] can summon the Divine as their Servants because they share a quality with them; that of [[spoiler: not being real.]] Note; this is a funny condition in the NasuVerse that has nothing to do with not existing. (Example: The Demons in {{DDD}}).

If it really is the Sakura route, then it will answer questions that the main game didn't, just like Heaven's Feel did in the original FateStayNight. Most importantly, the origin of the Moon Cell, the existence of sentient AI's like Twice and the Main Character, and perhaps also what the real world is like.

According to Extra, TheMagicGoesAway during the 1970s; [[VisualNovel/FateStayNight Fate/Stay Night]] happened in the 90s, placing [[FateZero Fate/Zero]] in the eighties at the latest since Stay/Night occurred ten years after the previous Grail War. It's not implausible that Kiritsgusu would have been a 'hitman' regardless, he just shifted his focus to the Western European Plutocracy that would have taken the place of magi as the threat oppressing/misusing Mankind. Prior to becoming Archer, [[http://typemoon.wikia.com/wiki/File:Extraarcher.png Shirou]] was not only affected by overuse of thaumaturgy, his hair white and his eyes graying, but is depicted with a scoped sniper rifle not unlike those used by Kiritsugu in [[FateZero Fate/Zero]]. With a more hostile world climate than that of the 'original' timeline, the prevalence of orphans would not be unlikely: Dialogue about the real world indicate it was in a state of open war thirty years prior, most tellingly in Twice's flashbacks and Alice's mention about men with tanks and guns and metal helmets. The-boy-would-be-Shirou was orphaned and adopted by Kiritsugu as before, only instead of it being a result of the Fuyuki Fire it was the kind of instability and conflict you'd expect from a world at war.

** Archer wasn't as well-known as "real" heroes, but he was infamous: Rin and Shinji were, from what Archer says, with him from the beginning, so they would have been known accomplices. When Archer gets turned in, Shinji "redeemed" himself, possibly being dubbed a hero, since Archer had pissed off/terrified powerful people. Archer dies a criminal, Rin (who left, but didn't turn against him) retains a similar status, and Shinji is remembered as a hero. "Rin," as a terrorist/freedom-fighter, is inspired to adopt the name, and "Shinji" is the equivalent of a thirteen-year-old gamer with a Batman, Chuck Norris, or Theodore Roosevelt-inspired username.

** Alternately, Extra-Shinji
is actually named Matou Shinji, and he's a descendent of the equivalent one Archer knew. Re-using names isn't uncommon in some families, and if his avatar is just an aged-up version of a thirteen-year-old gamer with a Batman, Chuck Norris, or Theodore Roosevelt-inspired username.
his real-world self, he certainly has the look of the Matou men.

If the Rumors and Nasu's words are true, according to his interview on Fate/EXTRA CCC on Type-Moon Ace 8, this game may be Nasu's permanent/complete end for Fate series/franchise.

* Mostly confirmed in ''CCC'': [[spoiler:the NPCs are various levels of self-aware, depending on their function, and nearly all of the ones in the Far Side schoolhouse are self-aware to ''some'' degree since they're outside the usual parameters of the HGW. The ones in ''Extra'' seem a little odd at times because NPCs during the HGW are meant to act on certain parameters to help advance the competition. And, in fact, a certain NPC being ''altogether too sentient'' is really what sparks the entire plot of ''CCC''...]]
