This is why you can stomp of the limbs of a person who just died. Apparently, the human body becomes so weak in the future, that if you so much as trip, your head and probably your arm would fall off.

[[WMG: The only way to stop the Necromorphs is with more evil]]

From what I can see, the only way to stop the Necromorphs is with an equally evil force that far outnumbers the Necromorphs and the Brethen Moons. If the marker can mess with organic minds, then the only solution is to pray for a crossover, set aside our differences with the Reapers and wait until they inevitably defeat the Necromorphs with their vast supply of indoctrinated troops. If you pit an army of giant space squid against them how can they win? Then, with luck, the Reapers will take pity on the decimated population and forget about the harvest. Honestly I don't think we stand a chance unless the Reapers show up and deem the Necromorphs more threatening than other organic life.

** Pluto doesn't have much in the way of resources, being mostly ice and such. It's also pretty small, about the size of five Ishimuras, so breaking it open wouldn't yield much anyway, as well as completely destroying it. The moons, however, could just be munched up like a twix, a nice little treat. One criticism of the theory, though, VideoGame/MassEffect's time-line takes place a little before that of Dead Space, doesn't it? If that's true, then the whole theory falls apart, as Mass Effect technology came to the fore on a manned expedition to Mars, and that's the basis for all space travel, so unless there was a complete global disintegration of Mass Effect technology and mass-forgetting of how it works, the theory makes no sense.

** Not true. Instead, they're all working to free the post-convergence Necromorph that created the black marker millions of years ago, to finish its own convergence.

to:

*** not exactly true. Hive minds are just very, very large Necromorphs made of several thousand bodies. In ''3'', you can see its close relatives (called Nexuses), which only count as a boss fight. The reality is much, much worse: Convergence makes a Necromorph '''the size of a goddamn moon''', with ''billions'' of bodies consumed, and the only known example was interrupted before it could finish.

* Very, very close, but with the characters reversed. At the start, Isaac is more concerned with keeping his head down and surviving, while Ellie is the one working to end the threat of the markers for good. Isaac is coerced by [=EarthGov=] to stop the markers, but ultimately decides to go in order to rescue Ellie from the suicide mission she jumped into.
** For the Co-Op multiplayer, Ellie is still an NPC, while the second player is a newcomer named John Carver, a former [=EarthGov=] soldier.

[[WMG: The Markers are Sealed Evil in a Leaky Can]]
So, however many millenia ago, the Black Marker and it's Necromorph-generating properties existed, and was fought against by some form of precursors. For whatever reason, these precursors couldn't or wouldn't destroy the Black Marker, and instead, they sealed it away on Earth- modifying it with the external carvings, the base, and some other things which create the Dead Space effect and the additional psychic effects (see below). The carvings on the outside, which describe the Necromorph DNA, are basically a hazardous material warning, complete with a detailed description of the contents, and which human researches only tend to be able to partially translate (continually missing some of the important bits, like "Recommended Containment Protocols" and "Why you shouldn't let this get loose"). The Dead Space effect helps keep the Necromorphs contained while it is buried, so that none of the bacteria or worms and whatnot that come in direct contact with the marker get converted.

The reason why the psychic influence of the Marker seems so contradictory is because there are, in fact, two distinctly different entities present. There is the Marker's Necromorphic Hive Mind, which wants to spread the Necromorph infection, and then there is what was placed there by the precursors, which wants to contain the Necromorphs. The Hive Mind psychic influence tends to be basic but broad- it makes everyone in the radius suicidal and violently psychotic, so that there are more dead bodies. The psychic influence from the seal is much more complex but narrow- it can only affect one or two people at a time, and it gives them complex hallucinations of dead loved ones that give them advice or guidance.

The real problem arises from the fact that copies of the Marker were made- imperfect, man-made copies that didn't understand the fundamental makeup of the combined artifact, and thus recreated both the original Marker and the additional seals in unison, as a single piece. This has caused the two psychic entities to be partially merged, despite their diametrically opposed natures, and thus, essentially, schizophrenic. While the Marker/Seal combination in Dead Space 1 was relatively consistent, presumably because it was a fairly high quality copy, the Titan Marker was much more confused, presumably because it was more poorly made.

** More likely Ellie will probably be a Co-op player option, much like how Sheva pairs up with Chris in VideoGame/ResidentEvil5. They've already taken a page from Left4Dead with the multiplayer, it's not entirely out of the question that co-op will be an option.

*** This is proven if you've watched Downfall. The P-sec guards unloaded several magazines into a slasher, but all it took for the big spiritual man was one slice with a plasma saw. Necromorphs are much more resistant to puncture wounds since they lack working internal organs. The entire gimmick of the first game was to break out of the "shoot them in the head" mold of zombie games, Issac was only able to survive because the situation unintentionally forced him to learn about their weakness (he has a cutter, not a gun) while everyone else fled for the security forces aboard their ships, resulting in a less-than-spectacular result (you see the trained guard shoot something, do no damage and get torn apart. A sane man would run the hell away instead of picking up an unwieldy saw and try to go sunday butcher on it).

*** Slave Labor. In both instances of Necromorph outbreaks, we've only seen what would amount to be a vanguard army. The Wheezers seem to be the first signs of an actual, practical application of corpses, but still a practical one, since there's no other reason to have them poison the air, given that necromorphs do a fine job of killing without it, and there's no actual need for them to breathe. The Marker is designed to cause havoc and create a slave labor force, making life easy for it's creators, and hell for anyone else.

It would explain why the Site 12 Marker behaves differently than the black or red markers: the older ones have achieved convergence and are now content on being dormant, while the "young" one has yet to converge.

** The Black Marker on earth seems to be of a mixed bag as well according to the novel Martyr. The Black Marker also drives people insane who get in it's sphere of influence and also is responsible for a smaller Necromorph outbreak decades before the first experiments on Aegis VII. However it also created a hallucination in form of an old witch causing peasants to destroy a potential Necromorh outbreak years before Altman finds it. So we don't know how close the red markers are to the black one in terms of objectives.

** The reason is not in the material, but even with the original Marker controlling the Earth Gov people who made the Red Marker, it is reasonable to think that the first time a Marker is made it would be flawed. The Red Marker was a prototype, which is why it was dumped on Aegis VII, and subsequent Markers were better built because the engineers learned from mistakes.

[[WMG: [=McNeill=] is alive]]
He survived ''Extraction'' as the ending was a hallucination; He then presumably retired as he states near the end. There is no mention of him in the ''Severed'' DLC, and the developers of this game aren't exactly shy about killing characters. They would've casually mentioned his death if they wanted to. My guess is that he'll return in Dead Space 3, become Isaac's [[TheLancer Lancer]] and kick [=EarthGov's=] ass to avenge Gabe. He will also meet Lexine again, possibly explaining why, despite apparently liking each other in ''Extraction'', she married Gabe instead.

[[WMG:Daina is really Kendra.]]
Well, both of them are helpers [[spoiler:and betrayers in the end]].
* Except [[spoiler:Kendra was flattened by the hive mind in the first one and then her body atomized by the collision of the cork into the planet.]] Now, I think it would be alright to say they might be related or worked together.
** I doubt that. [[spoiler: Kendra knew that the Red Marker was a fake, so she couldn't have been a Unitologist, or else she wouldn't have been picked for the mission.]]

[[WMG: The [[spoiler: Ishimura]] is the source of the Necromorphs on the Sprawl.]]
* While on [[spoiler: the Ishimura]], we get a log entry that states that the Necromorphs aboard were turned into goop when the Red Marker was destroyed. However, it also states that the moment that the goop enters the range of a Marker signal, it begins to reanimate. [=EarthGov=] built [[spoiler: a gigantic Marker, with an effective range of MILES]], with [[spoiler: the Ishimura]] well within range. Put two and two together, please.
** Except that the scientists already knew what the goop was, and what it came from. Plus it took around three years to build a new Marker. Not cleaning out the protoplasm in all that time, ''knowing'' what it would do if the Marker's signal reached it, would be like handing the keys to a missile silo to Dr. Evil while you go out for a stroll. While the scientists and shadowy figures behind the Markers show remarkable lack of foresight, they aren't ''that'' dumb.
*** Was the [[spoiler: Ishimura]] at the Sprawl for the entire three years? Given that much of it is still off line, the computer mentions decontamination hadn't been complete, several parts of it are still very broken down, and the entire [[spoiler: Medical Deck]] is hosed down with luminol and illuminated with blacklights, I got the feeling that it had only been brought in fairly recently (and logs on the ship mention that the person involved in the cleanup hears scuttling noises when he walks the ship). If that was the case, either the marker reanimated the sludge when the [[spoiler: Ishimura]] was brought within range, or while the CEC was cleaning the sludge the marker came on line.
*** Dumb doesn't enter into the picture, if they were manipulated by the Markers into doing it...
*** One of the scientist logs stated that they thought they had blocked the signal of the marker in Gov Sec so it would be a problem but if they missed something..."heaven help us." So maybe they did know and they thought they had it under control, clearly the didn't.

[[WMG: Dead Space 3 will be about finding a way to take out [[spoiler:all eleven remaining Markers at once.]]]]
While Isaac now has Ellie at his side, they'll never have enough time to stop Convergence if the Unitologists/[=EarthGov=] plan to activate them all at the same time. The only way to rid the galaxy of the [[spoiler:Marker]] threat will be to find a way to tap into the [[spoiler:Marker]] network and purge them all simultaneously.

[[WMG: Issac is a Necromorph]]
What if Issac was actually killed by Necromorph Nicole at the end of the first game, in the second he was really a Necromorph killing colonists. The Marker's just tricking it into thinking it is Issac, and that the colonists are Necromorphs, which wouldn't bee too much of a stretch seeing as how powerful the hallucinations are for 'Issac'. Perhaps if this applied to all Necromorphs we could understand why they are so aggressive to all non-Necromorphs, seeing as they're deluded into believing they are humans fighting monsters.
* Well, it is certainly possible that Issac is merely seeing colonists as Necromorphs. The exact same situation happened to [[spoiler: Sam Caldwel in Dead Space: Extraction.]]
* It's almost impossible that Isaac's a Necromorph. Things that don't kill the Necros, such as vacuum, do kill him. It's also highly unlikely that an entire station wouldn't be able to take him down if he's the only one.
** Oh dear I've just got a image of Necro-Issac breaking out of the asylum (research lab) and walking into a school filled with children.
*** OhCrap. I've got my HighOctaneNightmareFuel for the month, I guess the conflicts for it must have died down and it's cheaper than usual.

** Is the book canon? The resident evil and halo books sure weren't.
*** What? The Halo books are all canon, and besides, Visceral has not declared them non-canon. I'm not sure about the Resident Evil books though.
**** To clarify, the ''Halo'' novels are canon ''to a degree'', i.e. if the games contradict it then the books are wrong.

[[spoiler: Although, if the purpose of the necromorphs and the markers are to cause convergence, and Isaac is needed to cause a convergence event, than decapitating him and bringing just his head is much safer than trying to lure him to the marker...]]

[[WMG: The Ubermorph is really Dr. Challus Mercer, The Hive Mind, and the Hunter back from the dead and merged together]]
[[spoiler: Mercer, the Hunter and the Hive Mind all passed away in the previous game,]] however the Black Marker called upon them for a higher purpose and [[FusionDance merged them all into]] [[EldritchAbomination an unholy abomination]] when it brought them back to the world of the living. Now exists the ultimate Necromorph, [[ImplacableMan the Ubermorph.]] With the Hive Mind's head, thick flesh and the [[HiveMind ability to telepathically control and command all the other Necromorphs]], the Hunter's ability to [[HealingFactor regenerate]] as well as its mannerisms, and Dr. Challus Mercer's [[EvilutionaryBiologist appreciation]] and devotion to these creatures and [[ThePowerOfHate grudge against Isaac Clarke that keeps him constantly going after him]], devising plans with the others to ambush Isaac. He's also [[InvincibleVillain invincible]] as the fan trick might just be a glitch, [[NeverFoundtheBody we never see him die in the explosions]], and he's [[spoiler:[[SchmuckBait right behind you]]]]....[[EvilLaugh heheheh...]]

Ever notice that Issac is almost always decapitated when he fails to escape a grapple with a necromorph, or why he never becomes one of them? This is especially noticeable with the infector death, because it shouldn't decapitate him after finally sticking him with the proboscis. The infectors don't even seem to be injecting him with the infecting fluid, which is shown outside that cutsceen to be messy.

Also notable is the leaper death animation, where Isaac's head is ripped off and then immediately dropped. The problem is that necromorphs [[spoiler:, with one notable exception,]] have not displayed the intelligence or organization to carry something like this out. What they would want with his head is another problem....

* Also, because of this, it is impossible for Isaac to argue against orders. Why else would he be tasked to fix the entire ship nearly singlehandedly?

[[WMG: The Necromorphs just want Isaac's head.]]

** If he is, then how do you explain the fact that we kill him before we even reach marker? Or you haven't noticed that necromorph that had same skin color, a flashlight on the shoulder and same clothes, not to mention melted face had attacked you in living quarters? Although it is possilbe that since we kill him even after that, (reusing same skin maybe?) he eventually turned into Uber? Brrr...

to:

* If that's the case then why would Red infect Isaac's brain? And later drove bunch of people crazy... again? If Eearth Gov managed to create Red marker, it must mean that they were also infulenced by original right? So how could they go wrong? Unless the reason was in material.

* The only odd thing that can back it up is the fact that some of the graffiti is backwards. Like in a mirror, or even upside down.

You got to admit, this is a perfect explanation.
