The first is reasonably generic but could easily tie in with Joyce's divorce recently before the start of the series and the fact that the next time she got serious with someone he turned out to be an insane robot. The second one, more darkly, could quite clearly be linked with the fact that Joyce did die in her early 40s. For the third, alright technically the school blew up more then it burned down at graduation (it was the gym that burned down) but it's still a pretty big coincidence.

[[WMG:The adventures of Melaka Fray are in an alternate timeline.]]
At the time of Melaka Fray, magic has left Earth, as well as in the ninth season of the series. However, she has returned in the ninth season. By the absence of magic no vampires could be created, and the humans who were bitten were turned into a kind of zombies called [[http://buffy.wikia.com/wiki/Zompire zompires]]. When the magic returned, a new breed of [[http://buffy.wikia.com/wiki/New_vampire vampires]] emerged, which were much more powerful than the old breed. In the time of Melaka Fray, however, there are neither zompires nor the new vampires, but only the already known breed.
* In addition, the magic of Willow has ensured that there are many slayers around the world, but at the time of Melaka, she is the only slayer in the world.
* In the comics Melaka learns of a century-old witch named "Dark Willow". Maybe Willow has stayed nasty in Melaka's timeline, that never created the magic that created countless slayers, and the magic was not destroyed in the way it did in the ninth season, so no zompires or new vampires were created.

[[WMG:The prehistoric animals were actually demons.]]
There are several indications for this. It is emphasized several times that the Earth was a world of demons for millions of years. Thus there is no time at which primeval animals could have existed. Also, in the comics, Angel finds a demon in Los Angels that looks like a T-Rex.

* Most UK viewers aren't fooled by James Marsters' British accent, and they shouldn't be. Spike, who has travelled the world, hasn't lived in England for over a century. Arnold Schwarzenegger needs an accent coach to maintain his iconic Austrian accent, because living in California for most of his life would have decimated the accent. Spike is too proud to remove his accent, even though it now sounds a bit fake to British ears. He keeps it when losing his memory because his tongue retained its muscle memory. Notably, neither Angel nor Angelus keep up the fake accent charade, because they find the idea of clinging to an accent to be hokey. (David Boreanaz's accent as 18th-century Liam, however, was simply just a bad acting accent.)

* The basic plot has basically become a SuperRegistrationAct where vampires, Slayers, witches, the supernatural, they need to be monitored and watched by the government, after a horrific disaster breaks the masquerade. Buffy, Willow, Spike and the like are dead set against the idea. Dead set against Slayers working for the government trying to control the situation. Kennedy had been recruited. Kennedy is in favor of guns and military tactics that kind of automatically makes her evil. InUniverse Kennedy is considered TheScrappy of scrappies, to say nothing of what the fans think of her. And Kennedy has always had this...unfettered maybe attitude in that it doesn't matter what others think about the use of guns, doesn't matter that stopping Wolfram & Hart involves corporate terrorism. Outside of some new threat or that there is an evil left that had not been dealt with then Kennedy is a...hmmm, [[JustForPun potential]] antagonist. Well more antagonistic anyway.

With one issue left in the season ten comics it ends with Ghost!Anya turned back into a vengeance demon and turning Xander to ash because of what he did to her. Now we may be thinking it's a trick or there'll be a way to reverse it but there's the unfortunate personal situation with his actor Nicholas Brendan. With alcoholism and the recent domestic abuse it may just be that the character will be retired and this death will take.

*** "Demi-Sexuality", defined as "people who are sexually attracted to people they are in love with", is actually nothing more than a juvenile cry for attention. These are people who are otherwise vanilla heterosexual or homosexual who somehow do not feel entitled enough and thus want some special snowflake status. Demi-sexuals claim to be oppressed on the same level as homosexuals, but that's just nonsense. Seriously, what demi-sexuals claim to “suffer” is nothing compared to what actual LGBT people go through on a daily basis. They are not going to be denied a job because of their sexuality, they are not going to be denied housing because of their sexuality, they are not going to be forced to be who you aren't because of their sexuality, they are not going to be subject to violence because they are "demi" or whatever. Talk about gross? The entire attitude -- that these people somehow deserve special snowflake status just becausethey insist you ought to -- is utterly nauseating.

When we see a flackback of Anya as a human, she was always a bit odd and literal but she also nice. Yet now she’s become blunt and rude, albeit without meaning to be. This could be put down to living life as a demon for centuries, but she actually spent centuries interacting with people, frequently under cover, and if anything should have developed a great understanding of social customs. However, in “Prom” Anya refers to having been stuck in this “persona” when she lost her powers. The persona she adopted was originally one to allow her to get close to Cordelia. Maybe the reason why she’s blunt and lacks empathy in spite of centuries of impersonating people and human observation is actually because the personality she took on and got stuck in was one designed to emulate Cordelia. As a consequence, she adopted many of Cordelia’s own mannerisms (bluntly speaking the truth, not really understanding how her words would impact people, ordering people around).

[[WMG:Spike's season seven sirings]]

Yay! AddedAlliterativeAppeal! We know that the sailor Angel sired while the latter had a soul wasn't fully evil. He tried, but couldn't savor it the way other vampires did. This suggests that they're somewhere in-between the souled vampires represented by Spike and Angel and the completely soulless monsters that vampires normally represent.

Perhaps the reason Holden Webster (from [[Recap/BuffyTheVampireSlayerS7E7ConversationsWithDeadPeople Conversations With Dead People]]) is so effective as a therapist is because he has enough soul left in him to mute the monstrous drive and keep him from attacking her on sight, but leaving him monstrous enough to still hurt her (which makes him somewhat more effective, in their limited time together).

Was this part of the First's plans? An army of vampires driven by monstrous impulses, but with enough soul to make them more pliable? Souled enough to work together, but not so souled as to avoid an evil plan?

These people would include General George Washington (badass motherfucker who managed to lead a RagtagBunchOfMisfits against the British Army and then proceeded to lead a country), Adolf Hitler (managed to take over Germany just via charisma, most likely broken at some point, hence his horrid leadership), Gene Simmons (leader of the rock band {{KISS}}, massive asshole who's still loved, bedded over 1000 women and counting while still in a stable relationship with children) and more. Most of them were smart enough to tone down the awesomeness they get out of it, but Jonathan was, to put it nicely, a noob.

This appears to be a contradiction (and I know I’m far from the first person to raise it) but there is a possible explanation. In “Lover’s Walk” Willow was working on a “De-Lusting” spell, a sort of reverse love spell, to stop her from being attracted to Xander. She didn’t get to use it in that episode. However, what if she did eventually get to use that spell, either for her attraction to Xander or possibly to help her get over her feelings for Oz? Further, what if it backfired in the same way that the love spell Xander had once used did? When Xander had used a love spell on Cordelia and it backfired, every woman except Cordelia ended up in love with him. What if Willow’s “De-Lusting” spell backfired, causing her to no longer be attracted to men (either to every man or at least to every man except the target of the spell)? So if she was bisexual before the spell was cast, she’d effectively be a lesbian after the spell was cast.

Similarly to the whole Willow restored Amy as a Demon idea, Willow restored Amy as…Willow. Basically, it’d been so long since Amy was human that her human identity was lost or at least damaged. In fact, since, Amy turned back to a human older than when she was a rat this version of Amy had never really existed before (even her hairstyle had changed). The only way Willow was able to make Amy human again was to “extrapolate” and use a spell that filled in the gaps, using herself as the base. In other words, the changes that had occurred in Willow over the years occurred in Amy as well. The reason why Amy was suddenly more powerful than she had been before was because Willow was more powerful than she had been before. The reason why Amy was more willing to misuse magic was because Willow was more willing to misuse magic. The reason why Amy was suddenly a less moral character was because Willow was too (and since Amy started from a less moral base she was worse than Willow was). Of course that doesn’t really explain why Amy magically had contacts in the magical underworld that she wouldn’t have had before, though it’s not unreasonable to think that with her mother’s history she may have met them previously and only now that she was evil did she decide to contact them.

[[WMG:Willow’s Homosexuality and Lover's Walk]]

In season four, Willow came out as a lesbian. There’s nothing unusual about a person discovering an attraction to members of their own sex at that age. What is unusual is that after Willow had previously shown a clear attraction to men during the first three seasons, she was suddenly identifying herself as exclusively lesbian. Of course, it’s not unusual for a bisexual person to favour one sex over another. However, even when Willow was the victim of a spell which made her fall in love with a teenage boy, she described herself as being able to “overlook” the fact that he was male and her reaction was to try to turn him into a girl (suggesting that she didn’t really consider being with a man an option, even when she was in love with one).

Similarly to the whole Willow restored Amy as a Demon idea, Willow restored Amy as…Willow. Basically, it’d been so long since Amy was human that her human identity was lost or at least damaged. In fact, since, Amy turned back to a human older than when she was a rat this version of Amy had never really existed before.

* I have to disagree with that. 1. Even if the cops didn't have time to get there in time to save you, people would still try to occasionally call the cops if a vampire was chasing after them. 2. Not every cop was shown to know about vampires and stopping people from calling for help was a good way to keep up the masquerade. 3. 90s reception might not have been great but in a town where, according to Cordelia, the bad part of town was "about half a block" from the good part of town it's not ridiculous to think that you would have been close to the centre of town and would have had at least basic reception for emergency services.

* Well, one of the first thing she does after being turned back into a human is to go to The Bronze with Willow and cast a spell on an attractive young woman to make her attracted to Willow. This strongly suggests that it's certainly not the former...

**** Also, the chip may not be infallible. After Buffy's resurrection Spike was able to hit her. This didn't mean she was a demon, just that whatever quality the chip picked up on Buffy was reading as demon after her resurrection in spite of not being a demon (presumably... though I know there are theories to the contrary). The chip was built by The Initiative based around their knowledge presumably to detect some "human quality" or possibly to detect some "demon quality" and therefore to differentiate between the two. Either way, The Initiative didn't have a complete knowledge of the supernatural elements of the Buffy Universe. It's entirely possible for Tara to either possess some quality they thought only humans have (maybe she's even possessing a human body) or to lack some quality they though all demons had while still not being human (though personally I still like her).
