* LampshadeHanging: Ruby's first date points out how weird it is that, aside from their school uniforms, everyone only seem to wear one set of clothes. In fairness though, this is a problem that is in no way unique to RWBY.

* GrievousHarmwithaBody: Davids and Penny's solution to ending the double battle against [[spoiler: Coco and Velvet]].

* HeroicSacrifice: Averted and semi-deconstructed. [[spoiler: When attempting to save Evelyn after the Grimm possessing her drives her mad, the protagonist almost drains his aura (which would kill him) trying to force the Grimm out. Fortunately The Flame steps in and powers him so he can save Evelyn without sacrificing himself. Ciel and May call him stupid and selfish for attempting this without thinking about how it would affect his friends, however he still mains that he would do it again]].

* MoralEventHorizon: Weser crosses it when they attack a defenceless [[spoiler: Janara so badly that surgery was need to save their live]].
* MyGodWhatHaveIDone: Happens several times through the story at varying levels.

* Race Lift: In this universe, Ciel [[spoiler: is an android just like Penny. There is no indication of this in canon]].

* HeroofAnotherStory: The story of RWBY plays out behind the scenes of the one in JPDE's with the two for the most part not crossing paths but as David and co progress through their tale the choices they make will begin to throw the canon RWBY story off the rails.

** While the game does include several of the villains from the show (three of which you can date), they are more background characters threw much of it. Instead the game focuses on its own villains all of whom are original game (those being The Boss, Weser, Howard, Andrea, Bella, and Thilla).
** Professor Peach was only ever name droped in the show, her appearance and personality are unique to the game.

* OblivioustoLove: Jaune of course, but even more so than in the series [[UpToEleven if that was possible]]. Not only is Pyrrha visibly upset when Jaune only refers to her as his best friend, but if you do Pyrrha's dating route, [[ComicallyMissingthePoint he thinks that Pyrrha has a crush on David and calls David oblivious]] when David and Evelyn leave Pyrrha and Jaune alone while shopping. But the crowning moment come in Pyrrha's fourth event when she has decided to be with David instead and Jaune is helping her, it's unbelievable:

* DifficultySpike: [[spoiler:The battle with the regenerating creature in Peak is significantly more difficult than previous battles with Grimm, as you need to use either Ice Dust or Jack's Cryogenics before the creature will take any damage, and it hits like a truck so you have to both up your stats in the gym beforehand and make sure you heal frequently.]]
** The Pyrobsidian monster on your next visit to Peak is easily the worst designed fight of the game and has no mercy for the unprepared. It's a QTE fight so your stats don't matter and isn't afraid to ruin your day. [[GuideDangIt How's picking a choice of three options where only one is the correct one]] [[OneHitKill and the other two send your freshly killed ass to the main menu sound?]] How about doing that more then once? [[SaveScumming Hope you saved a little beforehand or you've got a lot of ground to retread.]]

* AdaptedOut: In jpde Raven Branwen is a fully human bandit clan leader unlike in RWBY canon, where she [[spoiler:became the Spring Maiden gaining access to the power that come with it]].

* SecretPath: Currently their are three characters in the game who's routes can only be access by the player if they have already reached three hearts in the relationship of someone important to that characters before at set date in game.

As of right now, JPDE has reached version 2.07.

* MyGodWhatHaveIDone: Happens several times through the story at varying levels such as Glynda coming face to face with how her loyalty to Ozpin let her comprises her dedication to the safety and well being of her students.
