* AsYouKnow: Comes up often in virtually all of the routes in the form of the "this is a military briefing and we want to make sure everyone is on the same page" variety. Yes, even the Ashford Academy route, when the Student Council is planning to rescue Milly from an unwanted ArrangedMarriage.

to:

* YouCanSeeThatRight: In one of the events, Rai is about to call out to Kallen when a gust of wind blows the papers she was carrying out of her hands. She performs a triangle jump off of a nearby column and grabs all the papers mid-jump before landing right in front of Rai. Horrified (since she masquerades as a helpless, frail noble girl at school), she can only whisper if he saw. When Rai confirms he saw everything and it was incredible, she begins to tell him ICanExplain but then opts to just say she has personal things going on and simply asks him to stay quiet about it.

Added DiffLines:

* StatingTheSimpleSolution: After the Black Knights raid the Refrain warehouse as they did in canon, Tamaki points out that since Refrain is a drug that causes the user to flashback to their happiest memories, couldn't Rai use it to recover his own memories and undo his amnesia? Rai acknowledges that Tamaki has a point, since all his efforts so far to try to trigger his memories haven't worked out other than a vague sense of affinity for the Japanese (which is part of the reason he signed up with the Black Knights in the first place).
** SimpleSolutionWontWork: Any consideration about using Refrain to recover Rai's memories is immediately shut down when Kallen tearfully cries out that he mustn't use it. Inoue scolds Tamaki for being so insensitive: the Black Knights had only just found Kallen's own mother among the Refrain junkies. Tamaki [[VerbalBackspace hurriedly claims that he was merely joking and thinking aloud]] and Rai quickly agrees that he never ''[[BlatantLies really]]'' [[BlatantLies considered it]]. Zero also chimes in, pointing out that Refrain is so addictive it's much too risky for Rai to use since Rai has become one of the most important members of the group.

* EarnYourHappyEnding: Rai will have to struggle to get the outright happy endings. In the Order of the Black Knights Kallen ending, for example, Rai is forced to push his Geass to the limit in order to make people forget Euphemia suddenly marching onto the stage and calling for the deaths of the Japanese (unbeknownst to Rai, Zero had accidentally used his own Geass to compell Euphemia to do so). The strain nearly kills him, though he does wake up to the sight of a tearful Kallen and later recovers enough to rejoin the other Black Knights.

* TheFriendEveryoneLikes: Rai gets this treatment if he accepts Cornelia's offer to join her Royal Guards. The unit captain Guilford (Cornelia's personal knight) is impressed with his skill as well as the fact Cornelia personally recruited him. General Dalton also praises him after his success in an operation. He even impresses Nonette Ingram, the Knight of Nine.
** Cornelia herself sometimes expresses irritation at how much her subordinates like Rai, thinking that he might get a swelled head.

** Meanwhile on the school side, Kallen and Rai help each other maintain their covers, but as a side effect people similarly assume they're actually secretly dating and being absolutely terrible at keeping it secret. It certainly doesn't help that they spend a lot of time together even in school.

* MyGodWhatHaveIDone: Like Lelouch himself, Rai has this reaction when Shirley's father is killed during one of their operations.

This has the slight side effect of making people assume they're secretly dating, and it actually proves beneficial because no one questions when the two of them go off together.

Lelouch immediately demands to know who the young man is, at which point Milly scolds him for asking for someone's name before giving his own. After introductions, Lelouch again demands the young man's name, at which point the youth reveals he is suffering from MemoryLoss. He can just barely remember his name ('Rai' by default).
