* DarkIsNotEvil: The good hero when wearing/using items from Evil shops.

** The evil hero when wearing/using items from Good shops. You can even buy and use stuff from Artix's Paladin shop even if you're evil. Needless to say, you'd still have to switch to the side of Good in order to buy items from the Swordhaven Armory and King Alteon's Good Shop.

** There is also The Paladin Slayer Class which [[CaptainObvious slays paladin]] and the class is obtained only by buying [[http://cms.battleon.com/aqw/images/AQWorlds-CardGame-ModPack.jpg The AQW Card game: Chaos and Doomwood Expansion packs]]

** As well as Paladins. The Undead Slayer can also heal, but only himself, and only by using Spirit Orbs.
* HeroKiller: [[spoiler:Vordred, the Paladin Slayer. He's killed every Paladin there is except one. See LastOfHisKind for details]].

* LaserBlade: The colored Star Swords that were released for a limited time only. Came in Blue, Red, Gold and Onyx

* OrIsIt: [[spoiler: Shadowslayer Z killed Wolfwing and he's now ashes, no longer able to hurt anyone....well, until the Moon shone on the ashes and a pair of eyes were seen.]]
** [[spoiler:After Vordred is defeated, Drakath gives his skull to Sally, who promises to make him more powerful than ever]].

** [[spoiler:Midway through the battle with Baron Luca, he takes on a monstrous form that would do [[{{Castlevania}} Dracula]] proud]].

** Baron Luca is based on Dracula from {{Castlevania}}, as he turns into a second, demon form at half of his health.

* AlwaysNight: In both Doomwood and Darkovia.

** In the beginning of the Doomwood Saga there are four heroes: Artix, Beleen, Cysero and the hero itself. [[spoiler: However as the Doomwood Saga is playing out as Artix being the only remaining High Paladin left...]]

* IncrediblyLamePun: This game and the hero both like using these things, ranging from "It has been a toad-ally un-frog-ettable experience!" to "Prepare to meet... YOUR LOLSUIT!!" to "It's the gift that keeps on giving."

** InvisbilityCloak

It's not the dark that Twilly is afraid of at all!" that causes Nyctox to suffer a CriticalExistenceFailure while screeching a rather funny high-pitched BigNo]].

* DownInTheDumps: One of the areas in Akiba have you face off against Yokai based on discarded items (like shoes and umbrellas)

** Undead Artix to [[EvilCounterpart Mirror]] [[EvilAlbino Alteon]]
** Vordred to Noxus

** Ledgermayne implies that Drakath could possibly be one due to what it calls his "overconfidence". Of course, since Drakath is also a possible MagnificentBastard, he knew that, as he puts it, "Ledgermayne simply needed to learn a lesson: Nobody disobeys me."

** Seeing as how she's referred to as She Who Walks Behind The Stalks, the Stalkwalker is a ShoutOut to ChildrenOfTheCorn's [[GodOfEvil He Who Walks]] [[CompleteMonster Behind The Rows]]. The fact that she feeds on the psychic energy of parents and Chaorrupts the kids into serving as her army to do away with all the grown-ups makes her both based on AND as much of a monster as He Who Walks Behind The Rows himself.

** Seeing as how she's referred to as She Who Walks Behind The Stalks, the Stalkwalker is a ShoutOut to ChildrenOfTheCorn's [[GodOfEvil He Who Walks]] [[CompleteMonster Behind The Rows]].
