An Ork horde, a species of green, inhumanly strong Blood Knights, led by Warboss Grimskull, is launching a massive attack on an Imperial Forge World named Graia in an attempt to steal Warlord-class Battle Titans. Titus and a small contingent of Ultramarines have been sent to slow them down while allied forces ready themselves for a counterattack. Later on in the game, a Chaos Warband called the Chosen of Nemeroth, including the traitorous and corrupted Chaos Space Marines, attack Graia as well. Canonically, Cadian men and women serve in the guard from age 14 and up, so a female lieutenant wouldn\'t be out of the question at all. They\'re likely surprised at her rank: for a 2nd lieutenant to be in charge of a whole regiment you have to lose A LOT of people.

* ActionGirl: Second Lieutenant Mira Nero, leader of the remaining members of the 203rd Cadian regiment, at your service. The general lack of Action Girls in the 'verse is also lampshaded, when the Marines are caught a bit off-guard once they realize she's the leader.

** Surprisingly, often averted by the main protagonist and zig-zagged in general. The codifiers for space marines in video games are Gears of War, Halo, and Doom. The trope describes a character who is a HeroicMime with almost no initiative and relatively poor characterization, usually a grunt, generic SuperSoldier, or the NewMeat, and often an AntiHero. If the protagonist speaks, usually they have a voice that should give any normal man laryngitis and drop ClusterFBombs like wild. Titus is well-spoken and polite, with a reasonably pitched voice that sounds more suited to a discussion in a sitting room. He takes charge immediately and is the commanding officer. Rather than receive orders, he gives them and either commands all the other defenders or cooperates with and rallies them. He is practically a PuritySue, which in the ExpandedUniverse is a frequent fan complaint about the Ultramarines. The rest of TheSquad vary in how well they fit the trope. However, every plot element of ASpaceMarineIsYou is in full force and then some.

**FridgeBrilliance: Titus was part of a relatively small group of Ultramarines that were passing by while a more sizable force was still 3-5 days away. Given the urgency of the threat and they couldn't afford to lose anymore time, it's entirely possible that they scrambled a couple of squads while supporting them with supply drops. Leandros and Sidonus even mention something along these lines when you come across a drop pod containing a Jump Pack.
