* TheDevTeamThinksOfEverything: If you try to get some additional ingredients in the Prologue, the {{NPC}}s (and one chest) will notice it, if you drop the ones you already have right next to them. They won't notice however, if you drop them far enough from them.

* DifficultySpike: The Beast, boss monster of Chapter I (of V), can be a nightmare even on Medium difficulty. All the rest of the game, particularly from chapter 2 onward, is a piece of cake compared to it. Once you learn the new system, though, a fight that was a nightmare on Medium can easily be a CurbStompBattle on Hard: the problem is a steep learning curve, not true difficulty.
** The Beast can be instakilled with a simple stun like any other enemy. See ContractualBossImmunity above.
* TheDragon: The Professor acts as a one for the mage Azar Javed. [[spoiler:Azar Javed himself is actually just TheDragon to the REAL BigBad.]]

Added DiffLines:

* AllSwordsAreTheSame: Averted. Silver and Steel swords both have different skill paths on the character development tree, as the fighting styles, while not represented in gameplay animations, are apparently different for the two types of swords.

** You can also make an argument that the aforementioned Zeugl is an expy of [[Film/LordOfTheRings the Watcher in the Water]] as well as a small element of [[Film/StarWars Dianoga]] in that it lives in the sewers.

* FiveBadBand:
** [[spoiler:BigBad: Jacques De Aldersberg]]
** [[spoiler:TheDragon: Azar Javed]]
** [[spoiler:TheEvilGenius: The Professor]]
** TheDarkChick: Princess Adda
** TheBrute: Savolla

* {{Knighting}}: [[spoiler:Geralt gets one from the Lady of the Lake if he solves the quest Ripples by advocating peace between the Vodyanoi and the villagers. Which is ironic, considering that Geralt was already knighted once by Queen Meve in ''Literature/BaptismOfFire''.]]

* LostForever: There's a minor example for the game's [[InfinityPlusOneSword Infinity+1 Steel Sword]]. While you can get it after killing all of the Trophy Monsters, you can also get it by completing [[http://witcher.wikia.com/wiki/Zahin_Schmartz the dentist's]] sidequest in Chapter 3. The problem is that you need to give him a Barghest Skull, which can only be obtained in Chapter 1 (and most probably sold all their skulls to Abigail in the same chapter, since they're [[VendorTrash useless otherwise]]). Don't have any Barghest Skulls?, you'll need to choose between either the [[InfinityPlusOneSword Infinity+1]] Steel or Silver Sword (assuming you did do the Trophy Monster hunts).

* [[OnlySixFaces Only Six Character Models]]: Even most of the unique characters have body-doubles (or triples or more) elsewhere in the game.

* BasiliskAndCockatrice: Basilisks and cockatrices feature as monsters in ''The Witcher'' and ''The Witcher 3'', where they are classified as being relatives of wyverns. Notably a cockatrice is the target in the only storyline-relevant trophy hunt in the first game. These basilisks and cockatrices lack the ability to petrify enemies, an ability the codex states is inaccurate folklore.
