You play as Grover, and the goal of each of the first five levels on each of the six days is to serve Mr. Johnson the correct food in his order. Each level has a different shift; Breakfast, Brunch, Lunch, Dinner, and Dessert, and for each correct order Grover gives, Mr. Johnson rewards him with a star. After the fifth star is rewarded, a monkey steals it, and Grover has to spend the sixth level chasing the monkey down to get the star back. After the first day, Grover's friends serve as the Counting Cafe's staff, and can help or hinder his progress by adding, subtracting, or changing the food in his order.
