* NintendoHard: What did you expect from the creators of Contra? Though it's a lot more merciful than the Contra arcade games (or heck, some other older Konami arcade games). For instance, you've got infinite continues and the 4-player option will tremendously help if you got friends to play with.

''Mystic Warriors: Wrath of the Ninjas'' is a side-scrolling ActionGame by {{Creator/Konami}} released exclusively for the arcades in 1993. It's a SpiritualSuccessor to ''VideoGame/SunsetRiders'', except with [[{{Main/Ninja}} ninjas]].

* TokenMinority: Besides Yuri, [[TheSmurfettePrinciple the only playable female character]], you get Brad, the only playable Black American monk.

* BladeOnAStick: Yuri and the second mid-boss of the last stage use a naginata.

* DisneyVillainDeath: The final boss, after being defeated, falls into the moat of the castle.

* FiveManBand: What little characterization the ninjas get places them into one.
** TheLeader: [[WhiteMaleLead Spyros]], the one guy who actually looks like a ninja. (Keima looks more like a kabuki warrior, Kojiro a samurai, Brad a monk.)
** TheLancer: Keima, whose fighting style is the most unique of the team and is the person the second cursor automatically falls on.
** TheBigGuy: Kojiro, a burly samurai.
** TheSmartGuy: Brad, who is described as a street smart monk.
** TheChick: Yuri, the only girl.

* NaginatasAreFeminine: Yuri's main weapon and to signify that she's TheChick.

* RecycledINSPACE: ''VideoGame/SunsetRiders'' with ninjas.

* FuumaShuriken: The MiniBoss of Stage 9 throws one at the player(s) and can only be damaged when he's not holding it.

* MsFanservice: Yuri is basically wearing a kimono that has an AbsoluteCleavage and she has quite the ample pair to show. And for her lower parts to her feet... well, see the {{Stripperiffic}} entry below.

* DamselInDistress: Yuri, if taken as the captive at the beginning of the game.

* YouGottaHaveBlueHair: Keima.

* DevelopersForesight: Subverted; the playable characters will still ask the enemies to "Let ''him'' go!" even if [[DamselInDistress Yuri was kidnapped]].

* {{Stripperiffic}}: Yuri has a more or less normal top... but the lower half of her outfit is basically either ModestyShorts, [[ThongOfShielding a one-piece thong or a bikini bottom]].

* BittersweetEnding: [[spoiler: Skull is destroyed, but the kidnapped ally sacrificed his/her life to help. The remaining ninjas stand and mourn their now dead friend (with Brad and Yuri openly crying), and then they leave.]]

* BoundAndGagged: The captured Ninja is this when he/she is taken to an helicopter at the beginning of the game.

* GratuitousJapanese: Everything's usually spoken in English. But during the scene [[spoiler: that features a certain HeroicSacrifice]], the captured ninja will say "Sayonara!"

* ThisIsUnforgivable: After [[spoiler:your ally's HeroicSacrifice, the enemy boss taunts you that your ally died miserably. Your character says "You'll pay for this!" and cue RoaringRampageOfRevenge, on that boss and the whole Skull.]]
