''Moshi Monsters'' was [[DefunctOnlineVideoGames shut down]] on December 13th, 2019, for reasons unknown but possibly due to the imminent discontinuation of UsefulNotes/AdobeFlash in 2020. However, there is a fan revival called ''Moshi Monsters Rewritten'' that does not require Flash. Mind Candy has moved the IP to ''Moshi'', a children’s mindfulness app similar to ''Calm'', with original meditations and bedtime stories featuring the Moshlings.

Monsters were taken care of by simply keeping busy in the game. Logging in, buying items or food, decorating your room with the items interacting with your monster (feeding, tickling or clicking for dialog) and playing certain minigames was enough to keep them happy and healthy. Neglect them and they will let you know their displeasure with you. It did not further affect the game other than that a low happiness/health bar will make your monster unable to level up. Leveling up made you able to buy level-locked items and it was more likely to achieve [=MonStar=] status in which other players rate your room. This could lead to you appearing on the Daily Growl (the Moshi Monsters news blog) or the Moshi Monsters Magazine.
