* BattleAura: Robert Marlon's special technique, Forsaken Embers, creates a flaming aura around him.

Added DiffLines:

* BreakingTheFourthWall: Happens very frequently throughout the entire game. One Subdirective even has Elfriede pull out a copy of the game's script to verify that what she's seeing is intended to be in the game.

Added DiffLines:

** [[spoiler:Edith]] also briefly serves as this during both her flashback chapter and in the final library sequence.

Added DiffLines:

* TheBigGuy: Newman.

Added DiffLines:

* AlwaysAccurateAttack: Jesse has several of these in their arsenal, most notably the skill they use upon a succesful parry, Gazelle's Horns. It can never miss and deals massive damage to the target.

Added DiffLines:

* BadassLongcoat: With the developer having confessed to adoring this trope, it's no surprise that there's an abundance of instances of this trope in each act. In Act One:
** April wears a white coat that is referenced frequently.
** [[spoiler:Langley]] dons one of these after their true identity is revealed.
** [[spoiler:Lieutenant Blue of ARIES wears a coat much like her brother Langley's.]]
** Edith wears a lab coat in her flashback segment, and a similar longcoat in the present.
** Ethan wears a lab coat as well, although it's less cool as he [[spoiler:does not live long enough to make the switch to a proper longcoat.]]
** [[spoiler:Adrien Knox from MollyAvast's previous title 'Better Days' has a cameo in the Generations Subdirective, and he wears one of these just as he does in his original game. The fake Adrien from the same Subdirective wears an identical coat in an attempt to steal his identity.]]

Added DiffLines:

* TheCoatsAreOff: Marlon does this just before his boss fight begins, starting a trend that would continue in Act Two with many encounters.

[[folder:Act Two: Beyond Blood]]
* BadassLongcoat: There are plenty more of these in the second act.
** Newman himself wears one.
** Newman's eccentric rival Roose wears a red longcoat.
** Lei Tseng, Maya's manager, wears one. [[spoiler:It's implied from the fact that he taught Maya to pick locks that to some degree, Tseng is or has previously been involved in shady business outside of his managerial job.]]
** Newman's old biker buddy Dominic sports a white one as a parallel to Newman's black one.

[[folder:Act Three: Death of the Gazelle]]
* BadassLongcoat: This act introduces a few more.
** [[spoiler:Saul starts wearing one of these after being elected Head Thief of the Vulpes Family.]]
** Bass wears one.
** [[spoiler:Aliénor, who appears in a cameo scene after the Disc One credits, wears one.]]
** Shiloh wears some kind of lab coat.

[[folder:Act One: Love in the Leaves]]
* BigBad: [[spoiler:Langley Miller.]]
* DyingDeclarationOfLove: [[spoiler:Dagny confesses to reciprocating Elfriede's love in her suicide note. Though her suicide is ultimately prevented, she intended for it to be this.]]
* GuestStarPartyMember: [[spoiler:April]] during the battle against [[spoiler:the World Swallower.]]
* HoldingHands: The special pre-boss CG for [[spoiler:the Cannibal Projector, the act's final boss]] features [[spoiler:Elfriede and Dagny, now a couple, holding hands and preparing to destroy the monster together.]]
* MysteriousBacker: [[spoiler:April Dannen in every way, shape, and form. She is very polite to Elfriede and the rest of the party, and shows up to save the day on a few occasions, but she also knows things that she theoretically shouldn't know and refuses to explain the reasons why she does the things she does. By the end of the act, you learn that she is the daughter of the ex-CEO of Novalive, Charles Dannen, but countless questions remain unanswered.]]
* TalkingAnimal: The werewolf-esque Devadas is the first tamed Earthen Sentinel that is introduced, and one of the very few known to speak full, fluent English.
* TheMole: [[spoiler:Langley Miller, the Vice Chairman of the Financier Clan, who actually turns out to be the Director of ARIES.]]
