* MagikarpPower: Rangers. They're well-equipped to deal with a wide variety of enemies (as opposed to most classes, which are geared towards eliminating a single enemy type). Which is probably why many enemies in the NewGamePlus have abilities specifically designed to nerf rangers.

* TheManBehindTheMan: Happens ''twice'' -- [[spoiler:Eztli-Tenoch]] behind [[spoiler:Zelemir]] behind Ozimal.

* SequentialBoss: The FinalBoss transforms every time you knock off one of their his bars, requiring you to expend some psi in order to keep damaging him. However, other than HP, his stats and battle tactics don't change between forms.
* ShipTease: [[spoiler:Slak and Ketta]].

* WhatTheHellHero: Azra will get this from Niru and Wrenna if [[spoiler:she decides to flee the Pit instead of confronting Zelemir.]] Subverted by Bakal, however, who will fully support her choice.
* YouHaveOutlivedYourUsefulness: [[spoiler:Ozimal gets turned into a Revenant after failing Zelemir one too many times]].

* LightningBruiser: Berserkers. They have many multi-hit attacks and one of the highest attack speeds in the game. (They can't wear armor, however, which can make them a bit [[GlassCannon glassy]].) Occasionally veers into FragileSpeedster as well due to their high dodge.

* [[spoiler:ShipperOnDeck]]: On the final page of the final entry in the journal, which is obtained by beating the NewGamePlus then going back into the game (and might require getting the GoldenEnding to boot), and is an epilogue written months after the events of the game, it is revealed that [[spoiler:Slak thinks Azra wants Markos]].

** Possibly subverted with the case of ice mages though as unlike virtually every other SquishyWizard ever, they can wear heavy armor.

* Tsundere: Ketta. [[spoiler:Slak is merely a tolerable traveling companion? Even Azra sees through that.]] This gets on peoples' nerves, to the point that Azra claims to have seriously considered letting the dragon eat her.

* LargeAndInCharge: Ozimal is noticeably taller than many of the cast. [[spoiler: Subverted when he turns out to be a DecoyAntagonist.]]

* DecoyAntagonist: Ozimal, very obviously. TheManBehindTheMan cements this fact when he [[spoiler:transforms Ozimal into a Revenant and sends him on a suicide charge]].

*** That's only if you fail to pay attention to the story. When Wrenna tells her story how she came to wield ice she also says: "I am not the only one who has had this experience. Many survive this plague and return unchanged." Actually every story character explicitly explains where other recruits come from except Slak and Ketta, because, raging half-naked nomad warriors and female nomad bow wielders are just way too common among Nomads and don't require any extra explanation.

*** Not necessarily though, as there ''are'' challenges in the game more difficulty than the final boss on the highest difficulty which these items may help with.

** Books, Azra's only form of equipment. They have incredibly powerful and unique effects, but you can only get them after you finish the game.
*** Even moreso, the books obtained in the NewGamePlus challenges. They're even more powerful, but there's even less to use them on.

* DiscOneFinalBoss: [[spoiler:Ozimal]]. Almost literally, in fact, since that marks the point where the demo ends.

* GoldenEnding: Receiving this requires a perfect during the final battle as well as [[spoiler:not allowing Zelemir to be harmed]].
