The year is 1190 [=AD=], and Altair has been assigned with a task by Al-Mualim. His mission: locate and collect an object called "The Chalice", which is said to be able to unite all factions and win The Third Crusade for whichever side is in possession of it. Altair understands that such a powerful relic cannot afford to fall into the wrong hands, least of all the Templars'. So, he sets off on his quest to find and destroy it.
