* The ''TabletopGame/MutantsAndMasterminds'' fan setting ''A World Less Magical (But No Less Fantastic)'' zig-zags the HistoricalGenderFlip Kenshin often recieves by mentioning the theories that Kenshin was a woman, and saying that conventional historians are right to dismiss them; Kenshin was a man. A transgender man who was assigned female at birth.

Another wild, popular rumor is that Kenshin was actually a woman, all based on the rumor that he never married and had no children on his own, thus popularizing either androgynous depictions in other media, or flat out giving him a GenderFlip. All his children were adopted, his successor Kagekatsu (who claimed the position after emerging victorious from an infamous power struggle against his adoptive brother Kagetora) being the son of Kenshin's older sister. Due to clever political maneuvering, the Uesugi clan continued to exist well into the UsefulNotes/MeijiRestoration (having acquired a noble title) and even into the present day.

* Kenshin also appears in the NHK drama named ''Fuurin Kazan'' portrayed by Creator/{{Gackt}}. Yes. That Gackt. Unlike most romanticized portrayals of the Takeda-Uesugi rivalry, Kagetora (as he is known for most of the series until taking on his iconic name) is openly disgusted by Shingen's reputation as a RapePillageAndBurn kind of warlord (mostly a) because his allies/retainers were enemies Shingen defeated or forced to flee; and b) for most of the middle of the series, Shingen was somewhat SlowlySlippingIntoEvil due to his victories). He would only get a [[WorthyOpponent proper measure of Shingen's character]] when they finally clash personally at Kawanakajima. It would be Shingen's strategist, Yamamoto Kansuke, who would have a more direct engagement and battle of wits with him.

** Kenshin got the typical GenderFlip referencing the popular idea of him actually being a woman and became a Servant for the fourth GUDAGUDA event, using her childhood name Nagao Kagetora. She's a Lancer-class Servant capable of riding a horse and striking at her enemy with ''eight'' different weapons for her Noble Phantasm and is voiced by Creator/NanaMizuki. And absolutely unable to show any other expression except smiling, even when she's about to dangerously wreck someone's shit, which was one of the reason she was referred like being a God: she acted very inhumanly, so much it was scary.

And Kenshin is depicted as [[MoralSociopathy a fundamentally amoral and insane person relentlessly drilled in Buddhist ethics so that she could properly function]], this primarily manifests as being absolutely unable to show any other expression except smiling, even when she's about to dangerously wreck someone's shit, which shit. Her own family were terrified by her, and even after she earned the awe and admiration of her followers with her skill in battle and tactics there was one of the reason she was always some fear in it; ''Fate'' often stresses that it's not nice, normal people who get referred like being a God: to as living gods. [[ArsonMurderAndJaywalking And yes, the fact that she acted very inhumanly, so much "croaked on the crapper" comes up yet again]]; fitting to her sociopathic and easygoing nature Nagao laughs it was scary.off.

* In ''LightNovel/MirageOfBlaze'' he became the actual Bishamonten after his death and established the Underworld Uesugi Army made up of reincarnating spirits of his once-retainers, to protect Japan from vengeful spirits of other Sengoku era generals. The commander of this army is Uesugi Kagetora, one of Kenshin's adopted sons who, in the Sengoku period, was defeated by his older brother Uesugi Kagekatsu in the civil war that erupted over succession of the clan after Kenshin's death, and consequently committed suicide.
