** The Chinese currently have a similar program to the Cubans, with most athletes selected for their physical attributes as opposed to any judo skills, with most not even having a background in judo beforehand. In the past though, their style was influenced by their own native wrestling style of Shuai Jiao with most of the programs athletes and coaches being practitioners, making it slightly similar to the Mongolian style due to being neighbours that influenced each other's wrestling styles.
