Alexander Hamilton (1755 or 1757-1804) was one of the major Founding Fathers of the United States. Coming from Nevis, a tiny island in the West Indies/Caribbean, he studied at the New York King's College (today Columbia), before joining the Revolutionary War. He also established the New York Manumission Society with John Jay, the Bank of New York (later merged with Mellon Bank to form [[http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/BNY_Mellon BNY Mellon]]), the oldest operating banking institution in the United States, as well as establishing a college, named Hamilton College, in upstate New York. Though I actually agree that Adams was sympathetic to Jefferson's positions, this is still nonetheless speculation and probably not relevant for the article.

** The truth is that Adams actually would've been a Jeffersonian Republican were it not for his stance on slavery and his favor toward a stronger centralized government. In almost all other aspects, Hamilton and Adams were on opposite sides politically, and neither made any attempt to hide their dislike of the other.

There's not really any evidence for this besides speculation. Nor do "many" historians think this. It's a decidedly fringe theory.

Fun Fact: A lot of historians suspect that Hamilton [[AmbiguouslyBi might've been bisexual]]. This is due to not only being married to socialite Eliza Schuyler, but also his close relationship with South Carolina statesman [[https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Laurens John Laurens]] and their correspondence letters bordering on flirting.
